As an artist, I believe in creating images which best portrays my inner thoughts and
effortlessly defines who I am. Part of my process before I initiate a project is that I go
through a period of questioning myself as to why am I doing this, what is it that truly
speaks to me and what is the source of inspiration behind it. Once the vision is clear, I
start doing heavy research about the history and the elements which would be
involved with the shoot, in order to define the story, mood, era and the visual appeal
of the images. The challenge, as with any reimagining of the moment from the past,
is to not caricature it thoughtlessly, but to still maintain the former glory it once
possessed.
My diverse cultural upbringing has not only helped me to be a better human being
but has also influenced my artwork to go beyond a single dimension and see things
from a different perspective. In my initial phase of self learning and discovery I have
been able to challenge myself not only technically but as well as conceptually in
creating my artwork, but this is not where my future lies. I intend to create imagery
which revolves around topics about environment, animal abuse, healthy living and
varied cultures as these would really make me content with my artistic freedom.
