Hi, I'm primarily an independent filmmaker (narrative writer/director/production designer/costume designer), with a background in performance (classical & experimental music, acting, performance art) but shoot headshots and portraits as a way of promoting performing artists I love, paying the bills, and getting away from my computer and out practicing my working-with-actors skills when in post-production. Plus, it's a great way to meet actors I might want to cast in the future or recommend to my fellow festival-circuit filmmakers.

I am not a fan of glamour, and don't retouch much, but have on-call affordable retouchers should you want their services. Authenticity is what makes a good headshot in the film world, so that's what I go for. That and beautiful cinematic moments I can't resist trying to capture on camera. As a former/sometimes actor myself, I'm happy to say my actors call me an "actors' director" and I bring the same vibe to photoshoots, striving above all to create a safe, comfy space for you to be you--or some whacked out character you've invented! When I'm convinced, I check the lighting and composition and take the picture.

Why I'm here:
•if you are also an actor or want to work towards that, and need legit headshots, or commercial/print/editorial portfolio shots, I can help (very affordable paid shoot)
•if you need very straightforward, honest, intimate portraits of any kind (I love shooting couple portraits!), ditto
•for the right person (someone unique who'd look smashing in my portfolio and I might want to cast or recommend as a performer or get to know anyway for some other reason) I'd consider a time-for-digital-files barter, if you have a specific need you articulate to me clearly.
•I can travel for paid shoots, otherwise am NYC based, happy and equipped to shoot on location, outdoors, or in my studio in Park Slope
