Adore Photography is the brain child of Carl Alexander, a young photographer from the Southern California area. He started his work in Atlanta, Georgia while attending Morehouse College as an Undergraduate student. Alexander began to look around at the students attending the three HBCU's around him and began wondering why he wasn't seeing images of people like them in popular media or in the news. With the purchase of a camera, Alexander began to change that image by starting a model photography company called Adore Photography and shared his work with the world. Alexander immediately got some attention from modeling agencies via social media because of his large amount of posts including black men. These type of images were not common in the modeling world which allowed Alexander to increase the presence of black voices and faces post after post.

After his graduation this year, in 2015, he is furthering his vision of model photography to the Los Angeles and Chicago areas. The goal of Adore Photography is to take the things and the people we see around us everyday and bring out the true beauty of those beings under a lens.

Upon looking at his work, Alexander tends to photograph people of color. After much criticism for this trend, he has responded on social media saying, "It was brought to my attention that we only photograph people of color. There's no prejudice in this, but let us look at that message." His message can be seen in works that he labels as "Ebony", "Charleston", and many others that the skin that we are in is something to be proud of. With constant messages in the world today that people of color are not beautiful, Alexander's photographs are simple, yet helpful reminders that we can find the model in ourselves everyday and that people of color are beautiful.
