My name is Jed Higdon and I’m here to make a dent on this thing we call life, and let me tell you, I’m armed with a metal baton.
Coming from humble beginnings, I was thrown into the construction industry following the guidance of my (far from loving) stepfather. Being of old school, New York decent; I learned how to do things quickly and if I didn’t do it correctly I quickly learned how to take my licks. Lets just say that it was more of a business investment to keep me around and teach me his trade than it was to treat me like the bloodline son he already had. Growing from my pubescent stage, I realized that I had capped out on my lick quota, making so many mistakes with a repercussion taught me how to adapt, how to lead, and how to shape life into something that would benefit me as opposed to suppress me. Watching his business start from nothing, the struggle to make it to the top, the light shining bright at the summit, and the destruction of an empire was the best education, (beyond attending college at UNR) that I have ever experienced.
As I write this about me section, one word keeps coming to mind; Love. I realized something when I was younger, something that I think a lot of adults have issues with that were double, even triple my age at the time; I realized that this fight that all of us have on the inside to make something of our lives is what drives me. It’s the same kind of feeling you get when you come home to that special person, a family member, an idol. I have that same feeling about my life. I get that warm fuzzy feeling when I learn something new, when I make a mistake, when I hit a wall so hard that I have no where to turn; its love. The feeling is so immense that it has pushed me to develop traits, qualities, and skills that keep that feeling flowing inside of me. Doing so moved me to continue my education at school; I attended University of Nevada, Reno where I pursued a degree in international business where I honed my skills in the process business, fueling my fire for the way that a business starts, the process of maintaining, and the glory of success. I hold myself at such a high standard it’s hard to confide in relationships, confide in family. It has taught me to confide in something else, easily recognizable-success. The love I have acquired for hitting milestones, elevating myself to a place unrecognizable by my peers but acknowledged by superiors is a relationship ill always be loyal to.
Business 101, you don’t sell a product, you sell a personable relationship.
So here I am. Offering years of mistakes, struggles, pitfalls and sob stories to fill Encyclopedia Britannica but confidently standing up with pride and giving my skills of business management, marketing, PR and media with a backbone. With concrete evidence present from day one of a leader, of a mentor, of a colleague and of a business associate, I promise to be an asset to your company. A tank in your arsenal, a glove on a boxer’s fist, I’m here to bridge the gap between your profit and your target. I make moves, and I’m here to make moves with you.
