Two years ago I used to weigh 399 pounds. I was feeling bad about myself. I would look in the mirror and all I would see is this big woman. I was not feeling pretty about myself. I was having health problems due to my weight. Severe depression was setting in. I did not know what to do. Plus I did not have that many friends and my family was not visiting or checking in. I decided I needed some tattoo therapy.
As I was getting the tattoo , I was telling the artist about my depression and how I was feeling. She told me about this place where I could go and get my photos taken for a cheap price. She said I was pretty and that I should go for to start modeling. At first I didn’t think that it would be a good idea. I looked at her and asked, Who would want to take a photo of this ? Then I pointed it myself in the mirror. My tattoo artist Said to me that I would be surprised and that there are many forms of art in and you never know what that’s what a photographer is looking for.
I decided to give it a try. I went to the Facebook website where you can put up your photo stating that you will be joining, are there any photographers interested in working with you. I was contacted by one photographer. She did not have any concepts and let me do whatever I wanted and dress as such.
In 2016, I began to do alternative plus size modeling. At first I knew nothing about poses or lighting. I was also rather insecure about myself. As I achieved modeling experiences, my confidence has grown so much. I have also lost 105 pounds since I began. I have modeled in the nude to help fight against teen bulimia and teen anorexia, I have modeled for lingerie, cosplay, cosmetic, and Goregious Girls Magazine.
I have contacted Model Mayhem in hopes that I will be able to continue with my experiences and grow within myself as well as help other companies achieve their vision.
