About Me

BIOGRAPHIE
It all started right there. A small flat, but a huge idea: to paint the walls with over-sized representations so as to reclaim the space, to push through and further the very limits while giving the entire room a completely new dimension.

After the world of painting, Pascal Mouri fell madly in love with the endless possibilities of Digital art. He bought his very first camera and quickly shot his first portraits. In the beginning he would body-paint the models, then soon he would prefer working with elements of computer art or multimedia, like superimposing vegetable or oceanic matter. For in the end, it's Nature itself that inspires him so: the very essence of what surrounds us, of what compounds us.

A fiercely passionate autodidact, Pascal never craved to experience the teachings of an art school for fear it might format his way of thinking and creating.

He has no other masters than the ones that deeply move him and to whom he vows a boundless admiration; Arman and his 'accumulations' who clearly influenced the quest for assembling and superimposing as featured in "Fragment Zéro" (a series Pascal created in 2015), Michelangelo and his obsession for detail and of course Caravaggio, whose chiaroscuro techniques have always quite literally overwhelmed Pascal.

It is influenced by Caravaggio's work that Pascal develops a fascination for light. First he tries reproducing it in his paintings, he imagines recreating it with his brush but in the end it's with his lens he starts to 'produce' the light, rather than 'reproducing' it. This explains Pascal's passion for studio work where he can master the lighting and obtain shadow zones and meticulously directed illumination of his models. This same technique allows him to expunge the surrounding walls and give his portraits an infinite depth, as if they were limitless.

Enriched by his experience, a technical perfectionist, enamored by the human form, a 5D mark III in one hand and a graphics tablet in the other, Pascal Mouri truly has a head chock-full of ideas.
