My past experience has predominantly been behind the camera as opposed to in front of it. In my younger years, I’ve recruited models, danced for the import circuit, nightclubs and events in Los Angeles and some areas in Arizona. For years my family pushed me to model, but just as kids do, what ever your family tells you to do, you do the opposite. I did a few shoots for the import circuit helping to launch one of the first online import magazines. That experience left a bitter mark, because of the competitive nature of girls wanting to be the “IT” girl. I declined the import circuit invitations for featured calendar and magazine choices/spots and stepped away from it and continued to support my friends continued to pursue it.
After support from family, friends and colleagues I started to pursue the curiosity, which started by helping a girlfriend who was taking a photography course. I became her muse, stepping out of my comfort zone. I’ve always enjoyed photography as an art, and admired the models for the message they could convey. My traditional and humble background prevented me appreciating the art, because the content included me. I had to take myself out of the content, to see what I would normally appreciate and see. I may be the paint, but the photographer is the brush.
There is a huge misconception that it’s the model that makes the image, but we often forget the art lies with the person with the vision whose able to capture it in even the smallest details. It’s why I don’t go to Penny’s for family portraits, but work with professionals who can tell the story. I enjoy working with people who don't take life too seriously but also believe in a high regard of professionalism. I look forward to meeting more intriguing and interesting people and finding out how I may be able to help you achieve your vision or create new ones.
