Hey all:

I'm looking for a Lansing-area female singer to record a concept album of some tracks I've written over the years, but never recorded.  It'd be about a 10-track CD for general release, and would be promoted in Michigan and online. 

My style is a little hard to qualify, but I suppose it's in the ballpark of Portishead, Regina Spektor, Tori, Fiona Apple, maybe Joanna Newsom.  Quirky coffeeshop-arty with a hint of Sondheim.  (I have degrees in Music Composition and Music Theory, but have never had these types of tracks recorded.)

The songs generally deal with concepts a little darker than your average pop album, such as questioning religion, abortion, homelessness, sexual obsession, etc., though a few selections are more standard unrequited-love-style fare.  Arrangements are generally piano, drums, maybe a bit of synth, a little guitar.  If the album is well-received, it might open the door to the creation of a band, but even if it's just an eclectic little indie title, it'd still be a lot of fun.  It's not a paid gig, but I'd be happy to split any album sales.

Must have a good voice with the ability to deliver some subtle, dark sexiness in the tone.  Not looking for a power-ballad-belter -- something more sultry and intimate. 

Anyone out there fit the bill, or pass this on to someone who might?
