Hi, I'm Craig Dean, a photographer and painter working in New England and eastern Canada.

The ideal model for me has her own unique kind of beauty that sets her off from the stereotypes and cliches of the modeling industry.



Her beauty comes half from nature and half from her character and her enthusiasm for creative art, for the modeling-photographing process itself. I especially value the model who brings her own ideas to the shoot and perhaps directs some of those shots herself.

It takes two in order for this complex alchemical process to produce a work of art--model and photographer must each create in their own ways.

Favorite themes for me include beautiful clothing and fabrics, vintage fashion and costume, outdoors in nature, boudoir, dance, gymnastics, yoga, classical art, mythology and folklore. I have a special fondness for projects featuring 1890's-1950's styles, including pin-up, burlesque, French postcards...Painters and photographers who have influenced me include Degas, Matisse, Klimt, Schiele, Georgia O'Keeffe, Edward Weston, Man Ray...

When time permits, and especially when the model collaborates on the development of the concept, I enjoy working on body painting projects.

I travel quite a bit in the Northeast and frequently work in Maine, New Hampshire, the greater Boston area, Rhode Island, Connecticut,  Vermont, Quebec, and New Brunswick.

I make my living as a professional in an unrelated domain of photography. I'm "moonlighting" here on MM simply with the goal of making art with other creative people.
