About Me

As an artist and a photographer, I tend to take my main inspirations from comic books (I am primarily an illustrator) as well as American and European grindhouse underground movies from the 70's and 80's. Many of my final images would fit right in on a 1980's video store shelf as the cover of a VHS tape next to the rest of the "Video Nasties".

I've always been attracted to the dirty, wild and gratuitous films from the likes of Jesus Franco and HG Lewis. While they were trying to titillate and shock viewers, there was also a joyous tongue in cheek attitude behind their films. Models that have worked with me know that despite the darker nature and vibe of my work, I'm a very light hearted and laid back photographer. If it isn't fun, why do it?

When creating my images, I prefer using extreme lighting, angles, and colors. I'll leave the subtlety to other photographers. I usually try to create a sense of horror or eroticism where less "explicitly" shown flesh and blood amounts to more dread or sexiness. My artistic goal is to create images to show at various lowbrow art galleries, which I do on a regular basis. I am also currently working on an art/comic/photo book and many of my current (2017) photo shoots will contribute to this book.

I also am really beginning to fixate on mixing body paint with my photography. As a painter and fine artist, I love being able to transform a model with my brushes and sponges, then use my photographic skills to create images even MORE fantastical than I could achieve with only my camera. My current theme I am focused on is horror-movie inspired pin-ups.

-Marvel's Black Widow
-Female Freddy Kreuger
-Female Jason Vorhees
-Giallo homage
-Woodland Fairy
-Voodoo Doctor/Witch
-Fantasy/Game of Thrones/Barbarian
-80's Cyber Punk
-Body Paint
-Black LIght
-ANY other theme a model may have. You have a really cool outfit/costume you'd like to shoot? I'm open to it!

*By the way, please don't bother sending me a friend request if you are just looking to pad your friend totals and views on your profile. I only use MM to connect with people I may actually work with someday. Sorry.

"I wasn't sure what to expect working with Nate after hearing his concepts. But everything came together wonderfully and it was one of the more fun shoots I've had in a long time. His ideas were hokey and silly, but also cute and sexy. He was professional and I would work with him again and recommend others to do the same!" Read less

"This was my first "creepy" shoot and I wasn't sure what to expect...but Dr. E Payne had a plan and had me feeling comfortable and creepy in no time....I love that he mixes medias and puts his art into his photos to make them unique. The fact that I am now in "the movies" doesn't hurt either....basically Dr. Payne was anything but a pain. Thank you for the fun and interesting shoot and photos... :)" Read less
