Where are you from? Where are you based now and do you travel for shoots?

I was born and raised in the Southeastern United States and spent most of my childhood in the Carolinas.

I often find myself describing my lifestyle as a “nomadic art chaser.” I live on the road, constantly seeking the next opportunity to create. Through these adventures, I’ve developed lasting friendships with both artists and patrons- all across the US and hopefully soon the world- and Model Mayhem is responsible for many of those cherished encounters.

Who or what inspired you to become a model?

In 2019 I had a mental health crisis that resulted in the reevaluation of my life journey. Happiness became my priority and pursuit, and I sacrificed all that stood in the way. I quit my marriage and job, moved into my car, and became a traveling model.

Traveling, collaborating, and creating art fulfills me and I don’t plan on quitting any time soon.

What type of modeling do you enjoy the most?

Adventure modeling! I thrive on fresh air and art. Going to beautiful locations and exploring the possibilities of the environment keeps the spark alive.

What do you look for when deciding to work with a photographer?

When reviewing the portfolio of a potential collaborator I always consult this checklist:

  1. Quality or quantity?
The quality to quantity ratio of a portfolio is a giveaway to experience and skill.
  2. Style
Without straying from my own artistic integrity, I make conscious efforts to consider all styles and have been rewarded with a versatile body of work.
  3. Credits
I always look to see if the photographer gives credit to their models. It’s a deal-breaker if they don’t!

Which models or other artists currently inspire you?

I am inspired by everyone I have had the opportunity to work with, regardless of experience. It’s my belief that everyone has art within themselves and it’s my responsibility to recognize it and appreciate it.

What would be your dream shoot?

Can I pick two? I have always wanted images of myself riding a big black horse, bareback, down a gloriously white sandy beach. And, at the top of the bucket list… swimming with elephants!

How important is social media in your success?

Honestly, I hate social media but am a slave to algorithms. For approximately 20-30 hours a week, I’m immersed in administrative duties, relying 100% on social media to create contacts and share my work.

What else do you like to do outside of modeling?

Yoga, photography, music, and hiking are incorporated into my daily routine and spare time is often spent scouting and creating videos of extraordinary locations to share with future collaborators. Last summer I scouted the Olympic Hot Springs in WA and ended up being stalked by a mountain lion for 10 miles!

What’s the best career advice you can give to new models?

Take the leap and follow your instincts.

Amazing portfolio, some of those images should be on museum walls.

I recently had the pleasure of working with Perrin for the first time, and I already have another shoot scheduled with her, and I can say that she was an absolute pleasure to work with! She was so authentically full of joy and creativity that it was infectious and made for a wonderful shoot. I wish her nothing put joy and success in her future endeavors.

Just wow. You personify what it means to be an art model. The photographer community should be challenged and inspired by you as a muse!

I like your Bucket List comment about the horse. I was a great fan of photographer J Frederick Smith and one of his images of a nude model on a white horse. Since I shoot a lot around, in and underwater, I’ve visualized a nude model on a white horse in shallow water just off a pristine beach. Unfortunately, a LOT of stars have to align to make that happen. Since you’re doing scouting for creative image locations, you”ll appreciate that. The shot needs a model, a horse, a model attracted to a horse, model okay with bareback on the horse, an attractive beach, shallow and attractive water, horse lives near the right location and, of course, weather, etc.!
