Where are you from? Where are you based now and do you travel for shoots?
I’m from Los Angeles, CA, and based here. I do travel for shoots.
Who or what inspired you to become a model?
Funny enough, my friends inspired me to start modeling. I was reluctant to start just because I didn’t have any experience and wasn’t familiar with the industry, but that’s how everyone starts off! My friend, who is also a model, had me tag along with her on a shoot and I absolutely loved it! Since then, I’ve been actively booking gigs.
How and when did you start modeling?
I started modeling about a year ago. I had lost my hours at work and had lots of free time on my hand and thought maybe I could start modeling for some friends and acquaintances. Luckily, I was able to do so (6ft distanced of course)!
What type of modeling do you enjoy the most?
I enjoy lifestyle the most, especially shoots that have a moody feel to them. I have a very bubbly personality, so it’s always fun to evoke the darker and edgier side of myself.
What do you look for when deciding to work with a photographer?
I look for people who are professional, fun, and know what they’re looking for from the shoot. I also love working with those who shoot with film!
Which models or other artists currently inspire you?
I love the 70s aesthetic. Some of my favorite artists are Diana Ross, Cher, and Pam Grier. I’m inspired by women who exude confidence and who like to have fun with their wardrobe.
What would be your dream shoot?
My dream shoot would be a combination of a Studio 54 and Boogie Nights vibe. Lots of glitter and big hair!
How important is social media in your success?
Social media is not important to my success and in fact, I did not use it frequently prior to modeling. I feel that it shouldn’t be a factor when booking models or any other sort of artist. People’s capabilities shouldn’t be solely dependent on what’s depicted on social media. I believe it constricts people’s ability to be creative and forces some to fit a mold that isn’t representative of who they are.
What else do you like to do outside of modeling?
I do brand ambassador work, I’m a Behavioral Interventionist and will be attending grad school this fall for social work.
What’s the best career advice you can give to new models?
Be proactive! Set time out of your day to explore castings, events, and other opportunities that might give you exposure. Most importantly, have fun! Modeling is a way to express yourself, so be creative and don’t be afraid to put yourself out there.
