Mikka, who goes by the name Chercheur de Lumière on Model Mayhem, has been working in photography since the late 1970s. He studied photography, painting, art history and the visual arts with Vida Freeman, Ed Ruscha, Jerry McMillan and others at Cal State Northridge. He currently shoots with Fujifilm digital APS-C sensor cameras, as well as 35mm and medium format film cameras.
The combination of exposure to both classical portraiture (the Dutch Masters), and more experimental thinking present in the Los Angeles art scene around the late 70s formed a lasting impression on his work and thinking about art and photography that can be seen in his work to this day.
