We recently made some changes to the search result pages in Browse. Our research shows that search behavior on Model Mayhem is much the same as anywhere else online, from search engines to directory listings, and that users tend to click more frequently on results displayed higher on each page.

The updated version of Browse is designed to provide increased visibility for VIP and Premium members. Each page of search results now displays VIP and then Premium members at the top. This added benefit will give a boost to VIP and Premium members by listing them first when people search for artists to work with.

This sorting occurs on a per page basis. That means it doesn’t change the results you would normally get on each page, it simply re-weights them to display VIP members at the top, followed by Premium members and then Basic members.

Here’s an example of how it works. This search is looking for female models in Los Angeles that have logged-in within the past 30-days and have Verified Credits. It displays them based on Last Activity.

• Location: Los Angeles, CA
• Display: Last Activity
• Logged in within: 30 days
• Search only: Verified Credits

Based on this search we used to display the models solely in order of last activity. However, the new results place VIP and then Premium members at the top (still sorted by Last Activity). In some cases this results in moving VIP and Premium members above Basic members that may have been active more recently.

As mentioned previously, this new sorting occurs on a per page basis and it applies to every page of results. In other words, everyone that used to appear on page one in our old search still appears on page one now. For example, if you’re a VIP member on page two this change will not move you to page one but it will move you nearer the top of page two.

This feature is one of many new benefits coming soon for VIP and Premium members.
