Post your WORST makeup work here...
I'll admit, I entertained the thought of posting ones not as bad but I noticed (going through my old pics) I was usually more light handed so everything just looked like natural makeup, not as drastic as the one above. So I can truly say this is my most embarrasing pic since I started. *By the way this pic was from the first time Luis picked up a camera to shoot anything but our kids and nature! Funny story a couple of weeks ago, my daughter had one of her friends over, now this friend loves makeup and is totally fascinated over me being a mua. So she asked my daughter if she could see my portfolio. Jul 15 07 12:18 pm Link This was the first time I ever put makeup on anyone else and took a picture. It was for my coworkers' prom. I had no foundations at all and had to use what the girls brought with them and I couldn't get the hang of using my tiny Dermacolor palette on the girl on the left. They were both really happy though. and here is an image from my last shoot: ~Michelle Jul 15 07 01:29 pm Link My very first fashion shoot (I did a lot of "glamour" that I just won't post, because I don't think I can crop those well enough.. ahem..). From 1999, I think. And some of my latest work, this year: Jul 15 07 07:21 pm Link BUMP I'm love this thread. It's great to see how some the amazing artists on this board started out. It was just me trying something new that made it my worst. LOL. Jul 16 07 09:53 am Link Damn, I had a couple to pick from.... Woooow. I don't ever want to go back in that file. EVERRRR...lol WTF... Jul 16 07 11:23 am Link I really have to say that a lot of these photos being posted are MUCH better than some people out there today who are putting out work. Well done everyone..we have all come a long way!!! Jul 16 07 11:57 am Link Oh man, I can't wait to play...I have to get my memory card from home. Prepare for my photos tomorrow, lolololol! Jul 16 07 12:05 pm Link Thank you for these! It IS nice for us newbies to see! Jul 18 07 06:29 pm Link Sian Melton wrote: And these are bad...because... ?.... I happen to like them... but then again... taste is subjective, is it not? Jul 18 07 06:36 pm Link What an awesome thread. Everyone whose posted their newer work is SO DANG talented. PHENOMENAL stuff guys. I've been the victim of a few beginning MUA's, but everyone has to start somewhere!!! And that's not really the point. It's all about the execution, photography, model, attention to detail, concept, etc...everything that makes a good picture that we MUA's learn through practise/trial and error. No magazine would dream of publishing my old images, but the newer ones actually look more like a picture that you would find in a fashion/beauty magazine. Jul 18 07 10:37 pm Link Sian Melton wrote: It typically takes artists a while to do fabulous clean beauty work- let alone clean creative make-up. Jul 18 07 11:14 pm Link Thanks, Rachel! I like my new work too; I don't really think it's uncreative or anything like that. Maybe there's a lot of netural colors *shrug*, but that took mad skills (haha). I will admit that I decided to have fun after I was out of school and do crazy stuff, but I quickly realised that it wasn't getting me proper work and I hadn't perfected the basics, like natural beauty, which is what makes or breaks a make up artist at the end of the day. So, when I moved to NYC, I made it my mission to update my book with more natural/classic makeups. I have a shitstorm of school pictures like that too! Star sequins around the eyes, sprinkles on the lips...Oo, and yes, I'm totally guilty of rocking the feather around the eyes too. Hehe. S. Jul 18 07 11:20 pm Link Jul 19 07 11:31 pm Link This was my first makeup- on myself actually- since i didnt have any models to practice with dont ask me about all of the shimmer on my cheek- i dont know what the heck that was all about, hehehehhehehe. and my very first avant garde....heheheheheh Jul 20 07 02:23 pm Link Back in the day when I was into the feathers (UGH damn those stupid feathers) Jul 20 07 02:35 pm Link There, there, Yisell *pats hand comfortingly* We all go through Feather-itis. Just be glad you made it through without any long-term damage. S. Jul 20 07 03:44 pm Link Sian Melton wrote: I just looked at your website and you've got some AMAZING stuff on there! Jul 20 07 08:40 pm Link Ok I hope everyone is ready because mine is the WORST by far!!!! TRUST ME!!!! Here ya go: aaaannnnndddddd..... Now, THAT is horrible!!! LMAO!!! This was one of my first paying jobs about 4 1/2 yrs ago. It was for a salon catalog. This is the absolute worst from the hair on down!!! LOL!!! Newer work... Jul 20 07 11:06 pm Link well, in no way am i an MUA, but i did go to school for cosmetology, and i do very much enjoy doing makeup and you know what i noticed? most of the things that are being posted as "bad" are things that are either, bright, colorful, adventurous, etc. and the things posted as "good" are for the most part more natural looking. i dont think anyone was bad, i just think the trends changed, because time went on, and now in retrospect you think you were bad, but thets just IMO. =] Jul 20 07 11:17 pm Link RHONDA!! shut up now!.. lolol girl it wasnt that makeup that was so bad.... check the hair... lol girl! !Face Jul 20 07 11:40 pm Link This is such a fun thread! Jul 20 07 11:48 pm Link I'm going to school to be a MUA and just looking at these pictures is inspiring. You may think they are terrible, but I'm learning what not to do and honestly, thinking of ways to incorporate the "bad" into a good look. You guys are impressive and don't have anything to be embarassed about! Jul 20 07 11:51 pm Link Rhonda McLendon wrote: OMG! Jul 20 07 11:59 pm Link |
