We're currently looking for some people to help out as volunteer Gatekeepers.

Here's what we're looking for.
We will consider each applicant but right now we're concentrating on finding more models, MUA's, stylists, designers as our GK roster is currently a bit slanted towards photographers.
We'll also be favoring those volunteers that are outside of the U.S. as our membership around the globe continues to grow.

1. Are you familiar with MM, the rules and how the site works?
2. Do you follow the rules and have you managed to stay out of trouble here?
3. Are you 18 or over?
4. Can you follow instructions and guidelines without bias?
5. Do you have a basic understanding of photography/modeling and those things related to the industry?
6. Do you have high tolerance for MySpace sTylE of WrItiNg, along with a tendency to be tolerant of newbies and their newbiness?
7. Have you worked with at least 3 MM members?

To apply, please initiate a CAM thread with the first line reading "Seeking Zuul" along with your sex, location, and profile category.

For example, if you're a female model from the UK, your CAM title should read: "Seeking Zuul - Female Model - UK".  People who do not follow this subject title requirement will be deemed to lack the ability to read and follow instructions and will be disqualified immediately.

In the body of the CAM message, please fill out the following questionnaire in your CAM.

1. Is this the first time you are applying to be a GK?

2. Are you connected to any other website as a GK type position or moderator?

3. Do you have a husband, wife, girlfriend, or boyfriend on MM?
What is their profile number if so?

4. Can you tell us a bit more of why you wish to help?

5. What is your favorite area of MM?  Forums, shout, Simply networking, etc.
What do you feel is your favorite or best contribution to MM so far?

6. Do you believe that you would be able to help out on a consistent basis even 3 hours a week?
(There is no specific requirement of a gate keepers time right now.  Just wondering how much time you might be able to help out with and if you will stick with it.  People are allowed to come and go with helping as they please.

7. Will you accept the standards of the site and the GK section?
(they are always in flux but at some point it is not a personal view what should be here but a line found by decision after debate.)

8. Do you have any other profiles on MM?
Please list all and every profile you have had on MM

9. Have you ever been removed from MM?

10. Have you ever been brigged?

11. Have you ever managed a model and/or have you ever controlled the profile of a model on MM?
What happened if so?

12. Please provide at least 3 references of other MM members that you have worked with. References should include the names and links to the profiles, not just the MM numbers.

As the selection process can take time, please be patient and don't expect immediate results.

Thanks!

Many of our gatekeepers are "two things".

I assume the fact that this was posted in the models' forum means that you are currently not looking for more photographer GKs? hmm

We're certainly open to photographers applying, but we are a little top heavy with them at the moment, hence our actively seeking more models, mua's and stylists.
That said, we are also very interested in bringing on-board members from outside of North America to better reflect MM's growing international presence and membership.

At the moment, the GK team comprises predominantly of US members, which brings with it, in my opinion, a slight (and wholly unintentional) slant towards viewing things from a purely US perspective.
Given that, there is a strong desire amongst the Mods/Admins to actively seek and recruit non US members to join the existing MM team of volunteers (as evidenced by the recent addition of another Brit and an Aussie to the Mod team).

So yes, even though you are a photographer tongue, you're redeemed by the fact that you are a Brit, so by all means apply big_smile.

Seriously, Gatekeeping can be very rewarding, and a lot of fun. Besides, wtf else are you doing with your MM time?

There will be a few noticeable physical changes after the first 20 straight hours of Gatekeeping and viewing prospective profiles.

What about a photographer based in Vancouver that's lived in Australia and New Zealand? I reckon i have a unique cultural perspective on things smile

I am applying because I am retired and spend much of my daily networking here on MM.  I see however, I may not be considered due to the facts I am a photographer and living in the USA?  Maybe too bad for me?

"2. Do you follow the rules and have you managed to stay out of trouble here? "

What constitutes "trouble"? I've been brigged once or twice, meh, opinions and SB hmm

Saying that, I spend quite a bit of time here playing nicely with others and helping when I can. Does being brigged once or twice automatically disqualify someone?

Being brigged once or twice does not necessarily disqualify someone.

Can a gatekeeper bar someone from admittance retroactively?
