I don't know why exactly but this makes me very happy ![]() Brazilian plus size model Fluvia Lacerda in playboy Brazil! ![]() good for her ![]() has this happened before? a plus size model in playboy (and I don't mean some random fat chick, I mean really a plus size model) Apr 02 11 02:30 pm Link She is beautiful !
- Phen Apr 02 11 02:32 pm Link Gorgeous! I don't know anything about models that have been in Playboy since I'm not familiar with it, so don't know the answer to your question. She's very pretty, though. Damn those Brazilians and their awesome genes lol. Apr 02 11 02:33 pm Link Not actually a new thing.. if you go through all the issues of playboy from the 70's back... they are all 'technically' plus sized models.. because they were not size 4 or less... and plus sized models are mostly size 10 and up.
Good for her.. but she isn't the first ![]() ETA: One that comes to mind.. Miss September of '61 http://guanabee.com/wordpress/wp-conten … 50x981.jpg 18+ish... (Due to sheer clothing) AND Miss October of '64 (she had a BMI of 23.4) Apr 02 11 02:34 pm Link it makes me happy as well Apr 02 11 02:37 pm Link Wysiwyg Photography wrote: This.
Apr 02 11 02:42 pm Link Sure, during the late 1950's & 60's, Playboy had many plus size models as playmates. While their dress sizes weren't printed, it was obvious by their height and weight that they were sizes 8-12. They were curvy, voluptuous, and beautiful. My kind of women. It was actually the norm. By the 70's, however, Playboy started going to the twiggy (petite) look. Playboy as been going downhill ever since, in my opinion. Gabby Apr 02 11 02:45 pm Link Bare Essential Photos wrote: not every curvy, voluptuous woman is a plus size model. I'm sure the women back then were sometimes a bit fuller than the average model you see today, but that's not exactly what i'm talking about Apr 02 11 02:47 pm Link Anna Nicole Smith did Playboy a while back and she is definitely plus in the pics. She looked amazing, I actually bought that issue and still have it. Apr 02 11 02:48 pm Link Playboy issue #1 released in 1953 had Marilyn Monroe who was between a size 8/10 @ 5'5"
Anna Nicole Smith Measurements: 39D-27-39 @ 5'10" 1993 Playmate of the Year I'm sure there have been quite a few others... xoxo Apr 02 11 02:53 pm Link Cherilyn Fontaine wrote: marilyn was more of a size 6, and she was petite. gorgeous ofcourse, but not a plus size model.
Apr 02 11 02:57 pm Link Marianne,
You need to do your research. I stand by my comments. Gabby Apr 02 11 02:58 pm Link Bare Essential Photos wrote: my research? I know what a plus size model is... in this particular case, i'm not talking about a curvy voluptuous woman who does modelling. I'm talking about a plus size model. your examples, although great to hear, were not an answer to my question. Apr 02 11 02:59 pm Link Marianne Michaela wrote: Marilyn wore an 8 at her smallest and darn near a 16 at her biggest and her dresses and measurements are on display as proof to her stats...or just use the internet Apr 02 11 03:03 pm Link Marianne,
I certainly did address your inquiry. I mentioned by their height and weight they were plus models. Also, some other MMer's are saying there were plus size models prior to my comments, as well. Not only that, but on a previous port describing London Andrews as a plus size model, which she isn't due to her height, you didn't contest it eventhough you were contributing to that thread prior to and after her being mentioned. And, yes, I did a photoshoot with London Andrews so I know she isn't a plus size model. Hmm ... I think you're letting other elements influence your comments. And Nancy Cameron, January 1974 There were also those who were agency models that became playmates. I think Shanon Tweed was one. So certainly not all were plus sized. Apr 02 11 03:09 pm Link Random fat chicks are bad then? Apr 02 11 03:10 pm Link Marianne Michaela wrote: A pattern size 16 is not a "off the rack" size 16 Apr 02 11 03:11 pm Link Rich Burroughs wrote: haha, no, certainly not Apr 02 11 03:11 pm Link Model and dress standard sizing has changed since the '60s.
A vintage 8 is a modern 2-4. A vintage 16 is a modern 10. Models usually featured in old Playboys were mostly around a modern 6-8. This does not, in any way, make them plus size models. A modern plus model is a tall 10-18, depending on your market. Big boobs and an hourglass shape does not a plus model make. Apr 02 11 03:13 pm Link For the people talking shit:
Fluvia Lacerda is VERY curvy and has done lots of Commercial & Fashion work. She is THE curviest model playboy has had yet to this day. Let's just be happy for the girl and this achievement! Congrats!! P.S. This is MY opinion and I'm not looking for a forum bicker and be diverted from the main topic, which is this big success. Apr 02 11 03:14 pm Link Cherilyn Fontaine wrote: A size 8 in Marylin's day would accommodate her 36-23-35 frame. That's roughly a 4 in modern sizes. And when you take vanity sizing into consideration, a woman with 35" hips is often buying pants in size 0. Apr 02 11 04:26 pm Link Maybe PB is figuring out that some people like skinny, some like curvy. It's more marketable I think to honor both of these. Apr 02 11 04:28 pm Link Marilyn was a size 8 in the early stages of her career, and a size 10 later on. She was indeed 5'5". Is height the only thing that makes you petite? Not by definition. 1pe·tite adj \pə-ˈtēt\ Definition of PETITE : having a small trim figure —usually used of a woman She was never considered petite by anyone at any time. There is a Facebook page trying to change this, but, I doubt it'll get too much support. 5'5" is the low end of normal as far as dress manufacturers are concerned. (height wise) If a model is 5'2" and 200 lbs, is that petite? I think not. Where does plus size start? Seems to start at size 12. 5'9" Looking around at definitions, it looks as though Marilyn was not plus sized. She was quite normal, even at size 10. Apr 02 11 04:30 pm Link Great to hear and not really uncommon thankfully. For a time PB avoided girls with implants so fuller figure was the order of the day. Its a shame that has changed really.
And yes by todays standards Ms. Monroe was a plus size, she was young during when the photos were taken and by my eyes about a current size 10 US. Lets keep in mind her size is well know (at different times) and from an era without much vanity sizes. So one may need to convert, but there is no doubt by today's f* up'd standards she would be a plus size model. Way to go Brazil! Apr 02 11 04:40 pm Link AJScalzitti wrote: A current size 10 US???? No. Her hips were about 35"-37", which is not plus sized even by today's standards. Keep in mind she was also a good 5" shorter than a plus sized model of today would be, so your eyes could be playing tricks on you if you're expecting a short)ish) size 10 to be proportioned like a tall size 10.
Apr 02 11 04:47 pm Link AJScalzitti wrote: Not by any standards I'm able to find on the Internet was she a plus sized model at any time in her career. Too short (5'5") and too thin (size 10.)
Apr 02 11 04:56 pm Link WTF
WE AREN'T TALKING ABOUT MARILYN FUR GOD'Z SAKE PEOPLE... She wasn't a plus model, she was curvy and pretty full looking at some points. SO? She isn't a plus model. She is a celebrity, an actress, a brand... Must everything turn into some debate about Marilyn? Jesus - H - Christ on a Cross!? Apr 02 11 05:02 pm Link Nadirah B wrote: It's either her or Kate Moss. Apr 02 11 05:03 pm Link theda wrote: Why are you even getting into that totally taking the attention off the OP?
Apr 02 11 05:04 pm Link Well, if it wasn't for height, Jeneva Jones (MM #118971) would probably be the no.1 plus size model right now in the USA. She's a reincarnation of the 60's Playboy Playmate.
