I use it mainly for posting about my photoblog to announce when I post updates. My blog is mainly analog and instant photography, and, Twitter is one of the main reasons my blog gets as many hits as it does. I always tell people how it's functional in the same way... I post a photo, for instance something using the new Impossible Project film, and all of my contacts see that I posted an update. Normal, no big deal. I use a good hashtag, thousands of people who don't follow me but follow keywords see my post. Great, new people with interest specifically in what I'm posing (or they wouldn't be following that keyword.) Then, Impossible Project themselves uses their account to retweet my post about using their film and the thousands upon thousands of people worldwide who follow them specifically to learn about their films gets and update on my post. If that's not enough each person that looks at my blog either through following me, through following a hashtag or by following someone like Impossible Project has the ability to retweet if they like my post - and again, it trickles down. Once you get the hang of it, and learn the proper tags and uses of following and retweeting, etc., it's a great tool. It's impacted the amount of traffic through all of my sites in a way nothing else has. For now i've just set it up as a personal page. There are so many networking sites out there, I'm signed up to all the main ones just waiting to see which way things go so that when they do, i'm ready!
