Dan OMell wrote: me too! by the way, very impressed by the amount of time and effort you invested reviewing so much ports! I made a todo list to look at least some of them. unfortunately, the list is sorted alphabetically, not by value. otherwise it could be easier to start from the very top of the leaning curve... Yes I totally agree with you but the original intent of this thread was just a quick portfolio review to see if there was any good photos for me to list; hence I created different categories. But over time users requested more critiques as well and it was too late to create a rating based index. Also, over the years many portfolios become inactive or disappeared so index doesn't mean much anymore. It was mainly created to avoid double dipping. Thanks for your input, I appreciate it. Varton

Eric Lyons Photography wrote: Would love to hear you opinion First impressions: Self claimed hobbyist and very good work. Your Skill level: Hobbyist make the best photographers. Your creativity: Need to be explored, currently model driven. Specific style: Portraiture in most cases Your Work focus: deserves to go beyond head shots maybe glamor and art. Your MM Profile usefulness: Useful Your challenges: some crops are too tight and be mindful of glowing faces. Paid assignments: yes Your money shot: What I like: Suggestions/ Bottom line/verdict: Keep doing what you are doing, I have seen some photos with a little overblown faces which can be fixed in the post and it is better to make artificial lighting settings work better for you in the future shoots. Your Skill level: Intermediate Your creativity: Photographer driven Specific style: Versatile to fit many niches. Your Work focus: Broad range of interest is noticed. Your MM Profile usefulness: Very useful. Paid assignments: yes Your money shot: What to delete: in your portfolio don't put photos where you appear as a blending object due to very busy backgrounds in the field. Like this -> In this picture your shoes and general attire is not compatible with a sword pose.
super bad cut/copy/paste otherwise it's a great well posed and composed photo. Suggestions/ Bottom line/verdict: Your posing can be definitely improved. Try to be more engaging towards the camera. Do you make my list?: No

Paid assignments: No What I like: https://www.modelmayhem.com/portfolio/pic/47027236 https://www.modelmayhem.com/portfolio/pic/47027230 Suggestions/ Bottom line/verdict: In photography regardless of the genre you are shooting, an answer begs for the following question: What's the point I am trying to make? Fitphysique wrote: I'd love to be critiqued! First impressions: Amateur approach to fitness Your Work focus: fitness and physique Your MM Profile usefulness: useful Your challenges: Identifying your scope with wrong photos. Paid assignments: TFP What to delete: redundant torso photos. Suggestions/ Bottom line/verdict: I feel that male models should really focus on the market segment they want to cater by showcasing themselves in that particular context. Your portfolio fails to demonstrate that and becomes a collection of plain photos of a shirtless guy. I am sure you want to project a different image. If you are serious in modeling professionally create a series of images taken by a professional photographer, include a combination of clothed and nude photos as well as sports action photos on location and studio to make sure you are perceived as totally vested and able to deliver on your promise as a professional committed model. Try to revise your composites to make them from the same series. Be more goal oriented in your portfolio pic, pose for photos in your professional area of interest. Your port currently appears as a mishmash of a cute photos of beautiful next door girl. You can change it and project your brand instead. Do you make my list?: No

Tasteful nudes Your Skill level: intermediate, model driven Your creativity: It's more like similar concepts with different models Specific style: Beauty erotic Your Work focus: Nudity Your MM Profile usefulness: useful, I liked the won't shoot anything weird part Your challenges: Sometime you fail to grab model's full attention Paid assignments: Possible Your money shot: What I like: https://photos.modelmayhem.com/photos/1 … c55a0d.jpg however it falls short in emotion and model engagement over camera. What to delete: I find that in duo shoots it comes a point where I think there was no point in shooting them together. This one https://www.modelmayhem.com/portfolio/pic/46047239 would be one of that moment. Suggestions/ Bottom line/verdict: Many photos with a big sexy factor fall short off being interesting. In many photos distraction takes over sensuality, mostly due to an absent camera connection. You can do a lot better by directing your models better. Do you make my list?: No.

Aspect Art Photography wrote: Hi Varton. I would be interested in some honest feedback too please. Cheers, Matt First impressions: Art, art nudes Your Skill level: intermediate based on light management Your creativity: somewhat model driven Your Work focus: nude erotic Your MM Profile usefulness: useful Your challenges: limited scope and lack of model engagement, unbalanced light schemes. Paid assignments: TFP Suggestions/ Bottom line/verdict: Since I am not an art shooter and never cared much for art nudes my opinion may not count or sound biased so I will just give my 5 cents, the light scheme is not always consistent, and model posture and camera engagement doesn't project a personal style often sough in an art photographer. Many photos are cropped in an awkward way as if they were self censored. In some color photos one can see they lack a dynamic range where shadows show no details and highlights are overblown.
