But above all else, "sexy" is all about attitude, and "attitude" has nearly nothing to do with the size of the nose.

I don't think that's necessarily the case. Photographers LOVE shooting my profile, I've noticed. And, I definitely have an Italian nose, as I'm full-blooded.

Lol.  I actually believed her for many years and developed an obsession about the size of my nose.

Then I had photographers and make-up artists comment that my nose was the perfect shape and size.

So I dunno. I don't think my nose is big, but its definitely not a button nose like Gemma Ward's.

Maybe I have a medium nose? Lol.

My half brother is half french/greek and his nose is phenominal!!! If he had a smaller one, he wouldn't be as beautiful as he is.

You have a wonderful nose! I'm not partial to noses that are too "cute," you know? I think the fact that you don't have a button nose is what gives you that edge and makes you interesting as well as classically beautiful.

And, I love distinguished noses on men!! I'm so jealous that men look so good with big noses and grey hair and all that stuff that we women generally cannot pull off.

Good models know what angles are flattering to them regardless of whether it's their nose, butt or breasts that they are concerned about. If both the photographer and model are clueless of how to make a large physical feature look good, the results can be very disappointing.

tiny and cute isn't always the best fit for the project.

it might be interesting to look through models.com top 50 and look specifically at the noses.

I have a "big" nose when it comes to modeling, but in real life it's acceptable. I would much prefer a little button nose as it would suit my face more but hey what can you do?

To make the nose look smaller,

- You want to minimize its casting shadows - look more straight into the camera than someone with a naturally small nose can.

- Profile is not good if you want it to look smaller. If you don't care if it looks big and the rest of profile is good, go for it! But profile will not make a big nose look small!

- You do not want it magnified by shooting with camera close to nose - keep camera away as far as possible. Close gives lens distortion magnifying what is too close.

- Tilt chin up a little to get foreshortening of the nose. But not so much you are having us look up your nostrils!

- Downward angles will make it look longer.

Keri Atkins' first photo above shows distortion by camera too close. The camera will enlarge more, the closer something is to it. Opposite is true, too: camera close, outstretch your arm behind you straight out and your hand will look tiny; outstretch hand toward close camera and your hand will look huge.

Thomas Eric's photo - the nose does not look prominent b/c model has much eyemakeup on, focus is on eyes, and outline of nose is faint in this photo. But if you look at the nose itself, it looks long and big - not small - b/c the camera is shooting downward onto it. She has tilted her head down, lengthening - not foreshortening - the nose. Tilt chin up foreshortens nose.

To narrow the nose with makeup, do not put dark shadow down the whole sides. That is what they liked to do with Marlene Dietrich oftentimes you will see and it did not make her nose look narrow, just made it obvious how wide the nose really was. Narrow shading on either side of the - what do you want to call it - the top nose, more than just the bridge, and blend the wide nose in with cheek, same color.

ALL OF THIS IS ONLY IF YOU want a smaller-appearing nose, if the client does, if the photographer does. If they are all happy with the size and shape of your nose - then don't worry.

I am not a fan of my nose at all!! People tell me that getting it fixed could either help me or ruin my look... it's a toss up.

But it will depend on what your agency tells you and that will be determined by what they need, as well as their professional opinion.

When I modeled, I was with the Stewart Agency, one of the top 3 at the time. They kept after me to fix my nose. I didn't want to because I don't believe in it and I thought it would mess me up psychologically. They threatened to drop me if I didn't get my nose fixed - I've got self-portraits in my port here you can see it's not all that big. I stood my ground. Absolutely not. They dropped me. smile Only years later I don't care. smile

I have a big honker, I broke it twice as a child. I would love it fixed one day (maybe I will fall in love, marry and spawn young ones with a surgeon or wealthy man). Sometimes it shows, sometimes it doesn't. It looks fine with the rest of me - http://a7.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos- … 6075_n.jpg

but close up it can be kind of dominating at times.
http://a7.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos- … 9875_n.jpg

Other times, it's perfect and works with everything around it!
http://a6.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos- … 5480_n.jpg

I have unique shaped eyes and cheeks, I wouldn't really want to throw it all off with a different nose. Also, $$$$$$$$$$$

My nose usually gets photoshopped down to be a lot cuter, but my nose I think is fairly prominent. Here's some shots where you can see her true form smile

Angles, angles, angles and practice, practice, practice. If you are a model with a large nose, you need to know where to point it to make it look appealing or interesting to look at.

I absolutely LOVE prominent noses for women and men both. There's few things that bring out character like a nice strong nose and character is sexy.

I get to thank my dad's German genes for mine and being an athlete and breaking it twice! I've always felt like my nose is wayy too big. Didn't help that my "friends" used to tease me about it! After many years I have found angles to try to make it look smaller but surgery is always in the back of my head.

I really don't think any part of a woman's (or man's) body needs to be fixed. It's just a matter of making what you have work for you. Different photographers will find different bone-structures appealing.

If you're worried about your nose try tipping your head up a little, the nose will be foreshortened and not look as long/large.

I usually prefer shots of myself at a 3/4 angle.  I don't like my nose, but I don't think I can justify getting it "fixed".

It's pretty prominent in my avatar, but here's a couple more anyway...

I have a little nose even though my mom has a big one, I have a big butt and big boobies. I don't think I'd look good with a big nose but I'm scared of plastic surgery. Some of you ladies that said you have big noses have really pretty faces, nose and all. Sometimes a refined nose can make one look quite classic

I too used to get the 'nose comments' in school etc. and knew I wanted a nose job when I was 15(!)

I now would not change it, I seem to have more or less grown into it anyway!

I agree with the poster(s) above, nose = character. Also great for classic modelling, jewellery, gowns etc. :

https://photos.modelmayhem.com/photos/110712/12/4e1c9c8a409f2.jpg

note: you can't tell from the front that my nose is slightly large!

- If nose is not completely straight, tilt it slightly upwards. (and work out the more flattering side)
-if too long, look directly, straight into the camera.
-if too wide, look into camera but with face directed slightly to the side.
-If too much nostril, look into camera with nose pointed down and eyes facing up.

-practice in mirror!

-Makeup = accentuate eyes OR Lips, not both, as your nose is already accentuated, three strong features will look a mess and not aesthetically pleasing.
-accentuate cheekbones to compliment a long nose and elongate the face.
-To compliment a wide nose, use winged eye makeup which widens the (rest of) the face.
