Did you try contacting him to ask? He seems friendly enough. Or, is he protecting his secrets?

This forum is like 80% how do I achieve this type stuff. With people dissecting/reverse engineering the work in question. Not sure if a one paragraph answer is what the op expected. In several cases this type of thing lasted for pages of posts.

The KT look? *Shoot in natural light. *Use only agency models that can emote. *Have them flip their hair and make faces like they are either having an orgasm or menstrual cramps. *Convert to B&W. *Add some local contrast (clarity slider in Lightroom). *Lower gamma in levels. *Tweak to taste.

What about his style do you like? I think the way you are shooting and lighting right now works great. The colors are really rich.

I think his diet consists mostly of fried chicken. Oh, and I think I saw him use Herbal Essence hair gel. Best of luck!

Here's a little hint: LR, curves, B/W presets and......Photoshop Channel Masking. For real. Now go and be the best "you" you can be, not the best Kesler. He's already the best Kesler.

Nothing wrong with imitation, but it is better to have your own style. Maybe take part of his style and tweak it to fit your vision. BTW,,,,you have GREAT shots! \m/

I don't think you guys should make fun of one's work, anyone. This thread is going to be locked soon. Lots of unintended unsolicited critique.

If you want some serious advice, here's what I suggest you do. Find a photo of yours that you'd like to start with, and put a shot of Kesler's that you like next to it in Photoshop. Do whatever you think would be best, and get it as close as you can. Then post a jpg of the two shots, side by side, in this thread. Or, even better, post a jpg and link to your psd file.

I had to look him up He's got several completely different "looks" or "moods" in his portfolio. So I don't get the question.

Doesn't do much for me and not sure why the OP wants to emulate him. Style is so personal and difficult to polish. Even if the OP wants to copy his style, it would still look different, so create your own.

I am not actually trying to copy him. If I were to copy him, I would have to start from scratch if you know what I mean. I have an upcoming project that I need this for. Thanks for all the suggestions!

Wow, Keslers work is amazing. I'm a fan already. His images have such raw appeal. The quality of the models also are top notch.
