In honor of out upcoming NYC locals  meetup...

What are the top five (or ten) overused NYC icons?

- Everything happens in front of the Brooklyn Bridge?

- Reproducing the WWII Times Square victory kiss?

- Model with cop?

- Shirtless firemen?

- Model on subway platform?

What else gets done and overdone and done to death and done again?

-Flashing in a subway car.
-Hailing or exiting a cab.
-Subject standing still in the middle of Grand Central during a long expsoure as commuters blur around them.
-Subject standing in the middle of a Meat Packing/Tribeca/DUMBO cobble stone street.

Which reminds me.  I need to work on my NYC cliche bucket list.

I am willing to make some come April when I make my way back to NYC. Its been over 20 years since I was last there.

Jen-a native Chicagoan who is far from any urban area in the least!!

I'd really like to shoot nude or alongsice the famous nude model of the golden era who was the muse for the fountains and buildings...who died in an asylum I believe...would that be too cliche? wink

Thanks Jerry!

We shot one with Lala exiting the cab as well... but then we saw this driver, waiting for his passenger/boss and the car was a Bentley...

I gave him a few bucks and he let us do a few takes, pretending Lala just came out of the bentley, looking surprised at a "paparazzi"... wink

I must say DUMBO is my favorite, but when I hired a photographer to shoot me there he didn't want the skyline, he said, "It was tacky". So he shot me in another location. I still love it!

The skyline is a definite, people will go on top of buildings and sometimes the skyline is photoshopped in.

Anyway, I

I shot an entire clothing line for a designer on the Highline (the mens wear collection in my port) and I know that there are a ton of shoots being done there...

The next time that I'm in NYC I'm going to check out the Highline.

I think they're opening up a new section soon. I could see people working on the extension when I was up in a nearby building for a show during the last NY Fashion Week.

You do need a permit, it's a city park, but they're not too difficult to obtain.
