10, if for no other reason than that MM seems to deserve credit for my having become the top "supermodel photographer" (even without the quotation marks) on Google.

Things are good. Because of MM I was found for a hair shoot and now I'm in many hair magazines every winter and spring, but that's my only real accomplishment. I can do better. Trying, but I really don't know how to do more. I feel like I'm at a loss.
I do thank MM for being on the internet/being there for me/existing. It has shown me a lot and I've met some good people on here.

After one year here,  for finding newer models who want to work on portfolio building work, a 9.

Compared to some of the other sites, an 11 if not for anything else, there are active, interested people here.

But Match.com does work better for dating, but them my wife does not let me date.

Just saying....

Easily a 10.

I have booked paid work, gotten tons of solid trade photos, found friends, been entertained, learned a lot, and found my artistic calling.

So for me it is a grand success.

At least a 9.

And you deserve it Neil.

8 overall.

It's natural networking for me and I've made some cool friends, well, over the internet for whatever that means.

I enjoy the forums; I just ignore the negative talk.

I'll probably delete my account when I get to a different stage in my life.
I really don't like social media of any kind but I keep this up because it works for me now.

I don't want to be in a serious relationship and running to the computer for my social needs, talking to someone across the country, in a different state or different country altogether.

If I need to talk to someone far away from me for personal or business, there's email, the phone and Skype if necessary.

For now, it's a good way to chat here and there.
If I want to seriously discuss anything, I do so with rational, kind, logical people that can carry a conversation other than the usual, playing their own adaptation of Oz on the internet.

lol

It depends, on dance shoots, there are so few real ballet dancers who are also llamas so there is the demand there.

But no so much in other fields of llamaing, though I haven't tried them quite as much.

I'm going to say 9.  I've gotten excellent ideas from the forums, met and shot with some amazing models I'd never have had a chance to shoot in my non-MM life and had some great laughs at some of the discussions between the super egos here.

I'd say 10.  Since I started photographing only art nudes, I've only had one flake that I can remember.

2 or 3.

I've worked with some very nice models, but the number of bigtalkers who disappear once it comes to nailing down the shoot is staggering.

I'd rate it at 7.5 wink

I met several fabulous llamas and designers, they so improved my body of work who I shoot often and count them as friends. Met a few users and one crazy lady too. (thus 7.5)

Pros:
--met some great people here, including the starter of this thread.
--worked with many lovely models that actually can keep an appointment
--forums can be sometimes informative, often entertaining.
--Lots of traffic. I used to be on MuseCube. Waste of time. I also tried a few other sites recently. Very little traffic.

Cons
--Far too many flakes, dingbats, and cellphone models that think the whole world revolves around them. MM really has to allow repeat flakes to be outed. Why MM would be comfortable being associated with No-Shows blows my mind.
--Very "buggy" site. Often goes slow.

No, sorry... it is not pretty simple!

There are only a handful of people on MM as long as me (MM# 130) and
I have seen a lot over the past eight years in all kinds of directions... so, first, what is your definition of success???

I didn't think of it that way. That is a good point.

If it was,has my modeling career move in a more successful direction?
Or have I made more money?
Or have I moved into the next price range?
Am I in anymore demand?
ETC...

You make me think Udor! That is a very good point.
It would change my answer if I really considered it deeper. I have not gone up in success from MM just gained more business. As well as met more people. So I have advances laterally.
But I didn't expect to move up the ladder from MM either. But who Knows. Its not impossible. I probably wouldn't be shooting with Robert Randall if it wasn't for MM. And I probably wouldn't have Udor in my interest for a shoot. So I would like to have another chance to answer it in 1 more year.
I can certainly see where it could have a impact on future success based on what my goals are.

10. It's been great. Here and there things haven't rolled how I wanted them to, but the site has delivered. Next month I am doing a little campaign shoot somewhere in the desert badlands and I wouldn't be up to my neck in planning the craziness if it wasn't for the blessed MM. MM has built my book to the point I just two or three more and I'm ready to pitch around town.

I would rate higher if MM had requirements for activity and updating, or account removal.

Otherwise though it's pretty great.

had a couple of bad models who just dragged negotiations on and on, some who kept copy-paste advertising rates and their casting to me irregardless of whether it was suitable, and some who were just so unprofessionally troublesome that i would never work with them again.

but on the other hand, i started out at mm when i had virtually no experience and being able to work with people who were at the same point as me really helped me along. i think that mm is great for beginners or people who want to help out beginners, but don't use it to cast professional commercial shoots - thats what agencies are for (or official websites for that matter).

Okay... you see... you have to be more specific, because the opportunities and goals on MM vary widely... and depending on those goals success is greatly diverse!

So, yes... I have to ask the question and since you didn't specify in your OP, I did have to ask.

Did I shoot a lot of models from MM... yeah..., did I make great friendships, personally and professionally on MM, absolutely!

I have casted for photoshoots and have been contacted by known models/reality tv personalities who are now friends.

I have shot with MM models and some have moved on to some sort of celebrity.

I booked agency models for work with designers... and some of them had MM profiles.

I have been involved for castings for Couture Fashion Week and over 70 percent of all of the hundreds of freelance (and many agency) models did have MM accounts.

I've shot the last two seasons for an online fashion publication, where the publisher  is a former MM moderator and some of the photographers are MM members for many years.

So... to answer your simple question, MM has been an important part of my professional and personal life for a long time... and I take is serious enough to get any success I need to get out.

Rating: 9
