Why Money is NOT Collected at Public Parks.  This was added per photographers asking about it. You're Not Allowed to Collect Money, unless you have a Commercial Permit.  I.E. Selling admission and food.  Collecting Money is one of the best ways to get shut-down and cited.  They could also confiscate the money, plus equipment.  Do you want that?  If you argue, they'll have a greater reason to cite you.

There's some exceptions for money collection at Private Parks, If granted permission.  But, usually for Public, you'll need something like a Carnival Permit.  Selling food equals Health Inspection and Vending Permit.  You can see where this goes.  That's why we only ask a Small amount before-hand to help cover costs.

The management does NOT allow for their name or address to be used.  Please ask questions Prior to date.  Don't wait too long.  Directions sent 4 days prior.

If this is at a public park where no permit is being paid for, and the models and photographers are all volunteers... what is the $26 per head going to pay for?

-That's Not what was posted-
There's a Discount, limited attendance.  Can you tell me which models and photographers "Volunteered" to pay the permit, snacks, beverages, and gas expense for extra trip for paperwork and Non-Refundable Payment?  Also table cloths, copies, phone bill.  Just ice and plates last time was $9.  In the past, I rented a Private Park (yep private), NOT Free, $75/hr plus $250 deposit...Yet, on a shoot with 3 makeup artists, there was a Photographer complaining about the (Discounted) $17 walk-in.  (I added from my pocket $10/photog to cover expenses.)  I'm also covering Additional Costs for this one.  Photographers are receiving a Subsidy, that was recently named Section 47.  All that's asked is a Thank You.

So, we're looking for courteous people that want to be part of a group.  The Doors are Open for New Photographers.  Start on the right foot.  You don't need to be a great photographer, but you need to have some photos in your port.

-On this topic (more shortly), with a Yucca Valley opening, and it's the best one...I would like new photographers to join.  Either we work together and help cover expenses or we hire someone for cleanup/setup.

Kevin had the same question I do.
Have you acquired a permit?
http://www.ci.pomona.ca.us/mm/Filming_P … cation.pdf in the amount of $500 plus indemnifying the event with a minimum of $2M aggregated policy?

By the sound of your original post, you don't.

Many attending models are new.  Additional models can be added now, But only with early photographer signups.  Otherwise, we'll wait until next week and go from there.

We have a permit, but there's many types of permits.  Most of it has Already Been Posted with Terms.  We can't have every permit and don't need to.  It's Already Posted that there's Discounted rates to cover expenses.  It shouldn't take much thinking to realize you can't spend $2000-$5000 for 10 people, and it's Obviously Not going to cost $20.  That can't even cover snacks & beverages.
-Models enter free, no selling, no day collecting, limited numbers...Simple

So you're saying there's a different type of permit other than the standard filming permit that every city requires? Personally I'm sick and tired of paying for those permits. If there's an alternative, would you mind PMing me the details? I'd love to save some $ on my shoots.

We have to acknowledge that there is a lot of work in organizing a photo-shoot. It is not just showing in the park and everything happens. By recognizing it I gladly pay the fee when I attend, so you should do it.

Thanks for the Good Words. smile  You're Absolutely Right, it's a lot more than just showing-up and things happen, especially within 30 minutes notice.

I just got back from a vacation, maybe we'll see you next time.  Try to make Yucca Valley if we do it.  You asked about the horses last time,

A derby prep Sat features the talented Flashback.  He'll be a short price and is drawn inside, which may not be ideal for him.  So, I'll pass that bet and go with 2 others with some trouble last time.  Fed Biz and Flashy Ways.  No guarantees.

Yucca Valley.  Some photos taken in the yard and home.  It may Open shortly.  It's the Best Home and property we've used so far, with 2 yards including the new mini farm.   We've done 4 shoots at this home, sometimes with window lighting and other times strobes.  We also used a different home on the lot.  Management owns all homes.  This is the nicer home.  If we can get it, a small hold is needed and people are expected to help out to reduce costs.  Shoot style fashion, bikini

Who said that there is no permit? Kurt has always been meticulous about getting the required permits. The money collected before the shoot goes to pay the permits , snacks and drinks.

It appears that there are a couple of people just trying to stir up problems where there are none.

Totally agree with you, Cal.  If a sponsor has not secured a permit or the right permit, it is the sponsor and not the photographers or models who will be subjected to legal action or not allowed to hold a shoot on the premises again.  Over the years, I have been to shoots that were shut down early or never started because the sponsor did not get the permit.  However, I do believe that shoot that is shut down due to the sponsor's fault of not securing the proper permits, the sponsor should refund the photographers their money.

Cal, you and I have been acquaintances for a few years. The question was valid as the OP did not state he had acquired a permit. His initial statements made it seem as though this was a gorilla style of shoot. I wouldn't want anyone being cited because a host failed to do things by the law. You know my job, you know it's a duty of mine to "protect and serve" as they say. For the record, there have been photographers and models who have been recently cited because the organizer failed to secure the proper permits.

Either way, I wish all those who are attending and hosting this event the best.

Here's a project for you, go through all of the threads and list all of the threads that state that they have permits for their shoots. I doubt you will find very many. If you don't like the way a post is written the poster must be in the wrong?

Sal W Hanna wrote:

How were you protecting his shoot? Isn't one of the concepts of the US Constitution, Innocent until proven guilty? Rather than doing a little investigation and finding out that the required permits were acquired you jumped to the conclusion that he was guilty.

Sal W Hanna wrote:

In the past one of the shoot sponsors had repeatedly refused to get permits for their shoots. I didn't see you jump on any of those threads.

Yucca V property has Opened.  We're attempting to schedule something soon.  This is the best home with large yard.   Home can be used as a studio.  The large yard is something new, made available last year.

...Stocks.  Haven't done this in awhile since it was only up.  But, we saw weaknesses in Asia and Europe early this morning, which carried-over to US markets.  Also, an incident at Boston's Marathon.  Sometimes in the past, occurrences like these triggered sell-offs.  Although I think the economy is good, I'm going to take some profits to protect.  Good luck all, No guarantees.
