Went to bodega bay the other day, (hey that rhymes) and on the beach there was a vertebrae (hey that rhymes too!)

It was in the sand, down a cliff near mammoth rock.

Looked like it belonged to a human.
It was totally clean.
No other remains tho.

Should I be reporting this to the authorities?

I'd  take it home with me, because bones are cool.

But then again, I shipped a package of deer bones back to myself from Utah once. They still had some of the tendons attached and I wanted to study it.

The dude at FedEx was clearly disgusted, but he packaged it up and shipped it back to the east coast for me.

My rotted deer was waiting on me when I got home from my tour.

More than likely it was the remains of a seal or some other large marine mammal (surfers are not considered marine mammals.)

Indisputably human - of course you call the authorities.

But, there's so much out there that's not human - The chances of a random vertebrae bone in nature being human, is terribly low.

Now if it's a finger bone with a Teamster ring through it - it's Hoffa.

Naw.  He's buried under a railroad overpass about 3/4 miles from my house.  Although the official name of the overpass is the Joe Saia overpass, the locals refer to it as the Jimmy Hoffa memorial overpass.  (My home town is an old mob retirement community.)  tongue

I bet you're right.  It was probably from a seal.
I shouldve taken it then, for Koryn.

Went to Bodega Bay just the other day,
and there on the beach lay a vertebrae.

It was in the sand near Mammoth Rock,
it looked like it could be human stock.

Could it be real?
or the remains of a seal?

Should I report it?
Was it crime?  Could I thwart it?

The chance of that though,
seems incredibly low.

But what if it's Hoffa?

On the beach in California
(Do not say I didn't warn ya)
Are human fragments. skulls and bones
Jumbled in among the stones.

There may be arms and eyes and guts
Or the pickled face of ole King Tut!
There may be shoes and pants and tops
From unarmed people shot by cops.

On the beach down by the sea
It's a gory sight to see!
Jimmy Hoffa's body dumped
Near the strange tupee of Donald Trump.

All the buzzards say,"Today! Today!"
Peck the bones and fly away.

If I make the call
and that's a risk, after all….

Because if it is human - that's important,
I'm assumin'...

But if it's a seal,
then I'll feel like a heel.

I once found a real human bone
So I called the police on the phone
They said that's a seal
It ain't no big deal
So put it back on your own.
