A few months ago I posted about a member who was accusing me of being a porn star after i told him my rates, which were supposedly "unreasonable".

He has now begun to harass me outside of MM (through my modeling email account). Any advice?

Can't you block him.  Are you talking about MM or Facebook.

Tell him to leave you alone, or you will call the cops on him. Of course, the cops will do nothing, but that might be enough for him to leave you alone. I was going to leave some "other advice", but didn't want to get into trouble, (wink, wink !).

I already blocked him I don't know how he was able to view my profile. But he found my email address and started harassing me through email. Saying my photos are porn and that I'm full of shit.

And I did threaten with the cops. Hopefully that does it

What Don said. Keep all of the emails he's sent you to CYA in case something does come of it. Don't let it become a "he said / she said". Keep proof.

Meantime, contact an MM moderator to let them know that someone on the site is harassing you directly. Send them the emails he's sent.

Set up your email program to block or automatically delete any messages from his email address. If he creates a new email address just block him again and keep on blocking him.

Actually, no, don't delete the messages. Set up your Rules to automatically store any messages sent from his email into a specific folder. That way you have copies in case you need them and you don't actually have to look at them.

?
It's listed on your bio...

Just because you block him doesn't mean he can't view your profile. As long as he is a MM member, he can view it, he just can't send you a PM.

And I'm not judging, but some people might see a pic of a girl spreading her legs while sitting on a chair as pornographic. Again, I'm not saying it is, but everyone defines things a little differently...

IMHO

I don't care that everyone defines things differently, the point is he is still harassing me about it TWO MONTHS LATER! He's obviously still trying to be hurtful. Now, don't defend him...

and I didn't know he could still view my profile.

Yes, report him to the mods.  They can't do anything right away but if others complain about that person, they will take action.

You don't need your email address in your bio since MM members will contact you through PMs on this system.

You can place "Do not recomment MM# xxxxxx" in your bio.  Do not do it right now as that might be seen as outing.

Just a suggestion but I would get a new email ( if possible) and don't have previous messages forwarded. Perhaps don't publicize this email until you are finalizing a shoot. But then you would have to plan your shoots through the PM method on MM.

I do think there is a way for the mods to make it so he can't access your profile.  Mods ?

What do you use for e-mail?  Many (most) e-mail applications have semi-advanced features that would allow you to block (or better yet, filter) e-mail as it arrives.  If you choose the filter option, have the e-mail dumped into a folder that you never open or read.

Failing that, you can contact your ISP & ask them for help -- they might be able to filter the guy out on the server side, before the e-mail even gets downloaded to your PC / Mac / whatever.

I wouldn't interact with the guy at all, even to warn him to stop harassing you or you will call the police.  That's what harassers want -- you to react to them; if you react, that means that they are succeeding.  If you are successful at blocking or filtering your e-mail, there is no need to interact with him.

If you feel that you must interact with him, get a detective or an attorney to interact with him on your behalf.

Meanwhile, try to avoid being in public alone for a while.

MM is not the place to seek legal advice.  What the OP should do is contact the police and/or a lawyer if she feels she's being harassed.

I see these posts all the time and understand the site is designed for networking with like minded people, but I'd lay money there's not too many degree holding bar admitted lawyers shooting through this site.

OP! Please consult legal assistance that can provide you with good, solid advice.  There's not a judge in the land who will want to hear, "Well I asked in the MM forums and some said to..."

Best of luck with this situation.

there are federal and state laws on bullying and harassment.
http://cyberbullying.org/advice-for-adu … rbullying/

keeping the evidence and making notes of the events as they happen is a good start.

Why did you start a thread about a MM member? He can read this. Common sense will save your ass more than crowd sourcing.

If spreads are porn, then MM has a big problem.

And even if it was porn, by any sensible definition, harassment is still harassment and not permitted and illegal.

remove your email address from your bio. if anyone should want to work with you, do your vetting in pms. when you feel comfortable, then give your information.

Take responsibility for your own safety.

Report him to the local law enforcement.

If you were my daughter, I'd buy you a gun and take you to the range and teach you to use it.  When seconds count, the police are just minutes away.

Sarah, I would not tell him you'll report him to law enforcement and just do that.   http://www.stopbullying.gov/laws/nevada.html
Perhaps a call from the police will scare him but it will make him aware that continued harassment may cost him.

Not gonna lie...this is damn hilarious! You blocked a MM member, thinking you were 100% safe, without fully understanding how the block system works! Yes that is hilarious. In fact, even NON members can read all the info in your bio. Even though this dude is no longer on MM, your information is still 100% visible unless you remove it.

If you comprehend my reply correctly, you will see that I clearly stated that I don't judge and I wasn't defending anybody.

Also, people defining things differently, [b[ especially things that can be subjective,[/b] is a part of life, whether you care or not. You might want to get used to that.

Yes - its not like Facebook. You can block him from contacting you, but not from seeing you.

Its wise to not put personal contact info on your MM profile.

You are quite an amazing model, Sarah, and I'm glad to see that we are already "friends" on here.  I've been accused of shooting pornography, but not usually from another photographer.  Being accused of dong porn may or may not cause harm to ones reputation depending on who is accusing and what one does for a living.

What strikes me as childish is a photographer who would belittle you, or harassing you because they don't like your rates. I don't get it!  Does he think that if he harasses you enough that he will get you to lower your rates for him?  If that is his thinking, well an idiot is what he is!

Honesty is the best policy.  If a photographer cannot afford the models rates, then just say so and move on.  Some of us are holding too much pride I suppose.

Best wishes!

I have my profile set to where only members can view it, but thanks for that info. I just didn't know that people who I have blocked can still view my profile.

Amazing how some people on this site will jump at any chance they can to be condescending, no matter what the topic is

Sarah, I do the same thing you do. I have blocked anyone who is not a member to even accessing my profile or port. It seems like you are being helped by the mods so great.

By the way , think you have a wonderful look for fine art. I will definitely look you up next spring on my way to Cali.

Unless the options have changed recently, you can only block outsiders from viewing your Portfolio, (Images) not your Profile. (About Me) That is visible to everyone in the world. Another reason to limit what you include, to also avoid scams.

Not true if you block non members from accessing your site it blocks both the profile and the portfolio. I know this since that is what I do.

A message will come up saying.

This member has chosen not to have their site seen by the public.  Or words to that effect anyway.

That is true. Under settings, and profile options. I use this too, members only who can see your profile. If they are not a member then your name doesn't even show in browsing.

I have had a similar issue of being email harassed, but emails were going to my website. One from a model and one from a photographer...because of wording used I actually think it's the same one person. But then went on and on saying my MM profile and work makes me look like a "c", and I need plastic surgery on my face. They can't see how I get booked because I am a horrible model. On and on, no clue why. Maybe a jealous idiot. Maybe just an idiot.

I keep the emails, block, and move on! Bigger things to worry about in life. borat

Totally wrong and worrisome.

Since he is an MM member and this started through MM I would contact a moderator.

p.s. I have some guy calling me a prostitute on my facebook model page saying the legal records don't lie and that I took money from the photographer as a prostitute. He wrote that under a picture that was shot in trade for a vanilla comp card shot, yeah, makes no sense.

Holy F*@#k!  Really?  Plastic surgery?  Anyone with eyes can see how beautiful your face is.  If anything, the person saying that needs brain surgery!  There are some crazy haters out there and on here ...  you did best to move on.
