I shot with four models in the waning months of 2016 (a miracle!).

OK, I assume you meant the four posted in the thread. Did you look at the others in the link? Why do the second two have less character?

Hello Howard,

let me try to express my thoughts

Model 1
https://photos.modelmayhem.com/photos/161218/12/5856ee53be6eb_m.jpg
I like the fact that even though she s not facing the camera she is still acting as if she were. I'd have preferred to see a little more of the face, but a keeper nonetheless.

I like it! Very "Bridget Jones Diary" if you know what I mean, if not please google it cause it would be hell for me to try and explain it to anyone.

https://photos.modelmayhem.com/photos/161218/12/5856ee4817971_m.jpg
I think I would have tried to light her face differently so that little shadow under her right eye wouldn't be there, but other than that I think it's the best out of the 4 shots for facial expression.

While technically it's just as sound as any other, to me it feels like she was caught off guard or in between expressions more than anything else. Since in my eyes it's not on par with the rest I would actually remove this one.

Model 2

I think it's a sub par image for you, but it's the one I like the most out of her set. Her pose seems natural and authentic, but I do not like the fact that the sky is over exposed, personally I would have liked to see some detail.

The only thing I like about this one is that her ensemble matches the background. She looks like a deer in headlights and the background seems blurred in post, but some spots are still in focus. Not sure what is going on there but I am not one to understand every artistic choice out there.

Her expression doesn't do it for me. I wouldn't be able to describe what she is trying to express, and I think that is the issue. It's a technically well exposed picture with a very vibrant lipstick color which i do like, it's too bad she is not giving the camera a smile to go with that lipstick.

This could have been the best out of her set, but I think the pole right next to her is very distracting. The flash is possibly slightly too powerful. Nice pose but still not much of an expression on her.

Model 3

I would pick one of the two and personally I would choose the one with the hands in the frame, but i feel they are too similar for attire and background to keep them both in.

I won't link the other two, I like them both. As far as models go I think she is the one that gave the most to the camera. Her expressions feel genuine and she seems to be more in control of them then the rest.

Model 4
https://photos.modelmayhem.com/photos/161024/14/580e7fbc20a80_m.jpg
This is honestly the only one I would keep out of her set. She is pretty and that makes me overlook the fact that she seems so scared of the camera to the point that she can barely smile. Beautiful soft light too.

She is not lit well enough and that makes her skin tone blend in with the background.

Not a very feminine pose, but mostly I feel like this was a rushed shot that could have been taken with a cell phone. I think the term I am looking for is snapshot? I m not even sure actually, but I think I got my point across, or at least I hope so.

I hope my English was good enough to explain my thoughts coherently. It's 3 am and I need some sleep at this point.
I hope this was helpful.

Ciao

Hey Howard,

Here are my top picks:
https://photos.modelmayhem.com/photos/161218/12/5856ee6b41311_m.jpg

https://photos.modelmayhem.com/photos/161216/16/58548af546ae1_m.jpg
(Wish eyes were a bit sharper)

https://photos.modelmayhem.com/photos/161218/12/5856ee53be6eb_m.jpg
This is to die for, love the energy in her expression

https://photos.modelmayhem.com/photos/161218/12/5856ee4817971_m.jpg
Very good head and shoulders photo

https://photos.modelmayhem.com/photos/160924/15/57e702f27d5a4_m.jpg
(Just wish the eyes were sharper)

https://photos.modelmayhem.com/photos/160801/18/579ff9cc2fb04_m.jpg
Love the light
(Maybe a nice gold reflector to reduce strong nose shadow next time)

https://photos.modelmayhem.com/photos/161115/19/582bd40828335_m.jpg
This is an incredible image
(For me I would Photoshop so there is only one catch light in each eye, keeping only the one on models right)

https://photos.modelmayhem.com/photos/161216/17/5854927075082_m.jpg
Great “S” curve in models body
(Wish she were holding, or had her right hand on railing)

https://photos.modelmayhem.com/photos/161115/19/582bd3dc96e35_m.jpg
Another great capture of models expression
(For me a higher crop, at thinnest area of models waist on her right side {about the 17th or 18th white stripe above pants button.})

I wish you well
