I will review your portfolio if you believe my photography is worthy of a TF shoot with you (so models only, I'm afraid).

Be careful now, I might hold you to it if you're in Toronto smile

Hello!

First off, I'm sorry to hear about your health issues, and hope you get better soon. Profile-wise it's refreshing to see a list of specific ideas you'd like to attempt, this is so much more useful than simply stating "I'm interested in shooting cool concepts!" (which says nothing at all).

Your strongest images for me are the drawings, in particular the Schiele-style artwork. As far as the photographs are concerned, my preference (despite some issues here and there) is for the following:

https://www.modelmayhem.com/portfolio/pic/41167745 (NSFW)
https://www.modelmayhem.com/portfolio/pic/41167917 (NSFW)
https://www.modelmayhem.com/portfolio/pic/39831183 (NSFW)

The latter photo is crooked, angled too high, and cuts off your toes. However, I like your pose, and the old-style bedroom context works really well, which suggests to me that you should perhaps seek to do more boudoir photography. You might also consider cutting down on the number of photos, just retaining the best one from any given shoot.

Take care, cheers!
Marco

Hi Cynthia!

I like the cosplay vibe, particularly this style:

   https://www.modelmayhem.com/portfolio/pic/41134698

I'm also partial to your softer look as in:

   https://www.modelmayhem.com/portfolio/pic/41032196

I can tell that you're quite passionate about what you do, but I do think you need to update a bit more often. I realize you may be fond of your older images, they have thousands of views and hundreds of comments, but so far I only see one shoot from this year. Perhaps it's time to archive everything pre-2016? I hope you do further explore that deranged Alice in Wonderland style, it's the definitely the direction which I'd be interested seeing more of.

Cheers!

Sorry for the belated reply, missed your reply somehow, I should keep a closer eye on this thread!

You have quite an eclectic portfolio, in no small part due to the large span of time it covers. I do think you should trim it down a bit, I  like the following images:

https://www.modelmayhem.com/portfolio/pic/44505812
https://www.modelmayhem.com/portfolio/pic/44434832
https://www.modelmayhem.com/portfolio/pic/44426763
https://www.modelmayhem.com/portfolio/pic/44197697
https://www.modelmayhem.com/portfolio/pic/44197693
https://www.modelmayhem.com/portfolio/pic/44477698
https://www.modelmayhem.com/portfolio/pic/36553103

These are, for the most part, either recent or recently uploaded, and show both variety and versatility. Other photos in your portfolio are either variations of the above, unflattering, or have various technical flaws (I'm also not a fan of IG-style censorship).

I love your look, you have a great figure, gorgeous eyes, and real presence. You mention in your profile that you've taken long breaks, but that seems a pity given your potential and creativity. Perhaps you might consider aiming for two shoots a month? I'm sure you'd find talented photographers to work with, certainly on a TF basis (I know I would!)

Thank you for getting in touch Azure, best of luck!

Awesome feedback, I really appreciate it. I have removed several weaker images that I knew detracted from my port. I have kept a few that I know have outdated quality or bad post production because of the overall artistic charm or I have a pose/expression I feel balances out other flaws-could be wrong on that though.

And don't worry-I book 3-5 shoots a month since my comeback and I do not plan on stopping anytime soon. I am more confident, creative and inspired than ever in my older age. wink

No problem!

Absolutely, technical deficiencies do not necessarily trump the model's artistic merit, so a balanced approach (which is of course subjective) is best. And this photo:

https://www.modelmayhem.com/portfolio/pic/44462037

which I previously ignored is actually very pretty (and that's why trimming helps the hidden gems stand out).

That's great to hear! Try keeping your port updated with the best image from your latest shot, it really helps keep it fresh and interesting. And if you're ever in Toronto please give me a shout! smile

Hi Pauline!

Goodness, I've been a fan for ages.

As far as I can tell you've been modelling consistently ever since you started, and your portfolio reflects that in terms of variety and freshness.

In judging a model's portfolio it's hard to separate the subject from the technique, as the latter is really on the photographer. Furthermore, you have some photos which I think are wonderful but suffer from quality issues (again, not really your fault). Finally, there are some shots which I think are not very flattering or interesting, but I'm happy to discuss those privately.

Based solely on your performance I love the following:

Expressive and stark minimalism
https://www.modelmayhem.com/portfolio/pic/40529218

Probably stepping a bit out of your comfort zone, but so very sensual -- the result was well worth it!
https://www.modelmayhem.com/portfolio/pic/42222714

A cool-looking "model" shot
https://www.modelmayhem.com/portfolio/pic/35401026

Again a bit daring, you look amazing
https://www.modelmayhem.com/portfolio/pic/41083083

I'm not sure I actually like this photo, but it shows a different side of you which is interesting
https://www.modelmayhem.com/portfolio/pic/42973896

Not a fan of the blown highlights, but you look stunning, amazing figure!
https://www.modelmayhem.com/portfolio/pic/44248559

Models really should tug their clothes more often
https://www.modelmayhem.com/portfolio/pic/44189605

I have some issues with the technical aspects, but you look cool
https://www.modelmayhem.com/portfolio/pic/42604692

Awesome, haunting concept!
https://www.modelmayhem.com/portfolio/pic/41984735

It's just so amazing seeing you sport these outfits, such a lovely fit
https://www.modelmayhem.com/portfolio/pic/42013442
https://www.modelmayhem.com/portfolio/pic/35175462
https://www.modelmayhem.com/portfolio/pic/42488609

Your most sexual shot, it really sizzles
https://www.modelmayhem.com/portfolio/pic/40564031

As much as I like your MM portfolio, your IG is also an impressive goldmine. You could easily replace the weaker half of your current MM portfolio with your best IG photos, it may be something worth considering.

Lastly, there is an intangible quality about all your endeavours (MM, IG, personal website) which to me suggests what is probably more important than any given image: the fact that you truly seem to love what you do and are committed to be the best model you can be. That really is what for me makes you stand out, and why I'm incredibly flattered that you'd be willing to TF with me, thank you!

Sure. Considering I shot most of this portfolio myself with the timer on the camera, my ego is probably a little too closely connected to a lot of this work. I'd like to get rid of a few, but don't know which ones.

And, if I were in your area, I'd certainly be up for shooting trade with you - specifically portraits and clothed "lifestyle" type images, such as the style you have featured here. And also because when you are a nude model, you still need clothed and headshots, like anyone else.

OK, let's go down the list smile

I already mentioned I love your new avatar, the vibrant colours and the setting are superb:
https://www.modelmayhem.com/portfolio/pic/44514320

These look like paintings, the mood and composition are amazing. The fact that they're self-portraits on a timer is mind-blowing to me:
https://www.modelmayhem.com/portfolio/pic/44507723
https://www.modelmayhem.com/portfolio/pic/44469157

You look gorgeous, but the obnoxious branding really spoils it:
https://www.modelmayhem.com/portfolio/pic/44462471

Very pretty, and although the light and splashes of colour are there the editing is just a bit too dull and the quality of the image itself is rather poor. Better post work and higher resolution would really help:
https://www.modelmayhem.com/portfolio/pic/44354554

A nice art nude, not the most memorable in your port, perhaps more an exploration of self-portraiture:
https://www.modelmayhem.com/portfolio/pic/44445752

It's an ad:
https://www.modelmayhem.com/portfolio/pic/44452713

Lovely figure study!
https://www.modelmayhem.com/portfolio/pic/43957169

You really have an eye for colour. Not a huge fan of the fake DOF, but it's to pull off on a self-portrait when you have less control of what's in focus:
https://www.modelmayhem.com/portfolio/pic/44173602

Another nice nude, again more of a self-portrait study:
https://www.modelmayhem.com/portfolio/pic/44257355

I love this shot, it's like art-glamour:
https://www.modelmayhem.com/portfolio/pic/44288651

I wish this were from the waist up:
https://www.modelmayhem.com/portfolio/pic/44185178

I like all of these, but the second is a stand-out, what an awesome, sensual image!
https://www.modelmayhem.com/portfolio/pic/44067008
https://www.modelmayhem.com/portfolio/pic/43970361
https://www.modelmayhem.com/portfolio/pic/43957156
https://www.modelmayhem.com/portfolio/pic/43957096

The second shot in the woods I think is much stronger than the first, the self-portrait is sweet and the glamour shot nice:
https://www.modelmayhem.com/portfolio/pic/44000117
https://www.modelmayhem.com/portfolio/pic/43968641
https://www.modelmayhem.com/portfolio/pic/44006881
https://www.modelmayhem.com/portfolio/pic/43957151

Beautiful colours and composition:
https://www.modelmayhem.com/portfolio/pic/43957118

These again feel like studies in self-portraiture, to me the first is the strongest, the second the weakest:
https://www.modelmayhem.com/portfolio/pic/43957114
https://www.modelmayhem.com/portfolio/pic/44000148
https://www.modelmayhem.com/portfolio/pic/44000121

From the last row the strongest I feel is:
https://www.modelmayhem.com/portfolio/pic/44048939

Overall a beautiful portfolio with some outstanding self-portraits.

And, if I were in your area, I'd certainly be up for shooting trade with you - specifically portraits and clothed "lifestyle" type images, such as the style you have featured here. And also because when you are a nude model, you still need clothed and headshots, like anyone else.

You should probably pay for an availability casting notice.
Or post a "photographer wanted: payment = TF" casting notice, which might get more attention.

Hi Tracey!

traceyourworld wrote:

I know you've recently joined MM and I've had my eye on your portfolio for some time. You remind me of one of my favourite models (who is simply amazing), and believe you have just as much potential as she had starting out.

Off we go!

You look lovely here. I wish the photographer had done a bit more with it because the location really lends itself for a Kubrick-like concept, but it shows you in a simple and flattering manner (particularly the first photo where the crop is much better and the eye contact really draws the viewer in):
https://www.modelmayhem.com/portfolio/pic/44473488
https://www.modelmayhem.com/portfolio/pic/44473491

I love location and the colours here! I had left a comment already, it's one of my favourite shots in your portfolio:
https://www.modelmayhem.com/portfolio/pic/44485037

I like this photo, having the light string wrapped around fairly tightly was a good call to add tension:
https://www.modelmayhem.com/portfolio/pic/44362057

I feel direction was lacking, so it really puts the onus on the model to make it look interesting. You chose one as your avatar so I think you really like at least one of them, but they're rather unispired (but see below):
https://www.modelmayhem.com/portfolio/pic/44361903
https://www.modelmayhem.com/portfolio/pic/44361904

How I wish the crop hadn't cut off your toes, you look great! This is from the same series as above, but it just feel so much more organic, and your connection with the camera is palpable:
https://www.modelmayhem.com/portfolio/pic/44361931

Shooting with books usually sounds more interesting than what it actually looks like, and often times ends up feeling like the photographer just leaves it up to the model to use it as prop:
https://www.modelmayhem.com/portfolio/pic/44361939
Models should also push photographers, it's sometimes important to create stories:
https://www.reimeika.ca/page/portfolio? … pg&all
https://www.reimeika.ca/page/portfolio? … pg&all

Lovely figure nudes to showcase versatility:
https://www.modelmayhem.com/portfolio/pic/44554771
https://www.modelmayhem.com/portfolio/pic/44554772
https://www.modelmayhem.com/portfolio/pic/44428270

This is a beautiful series, perhaps post better quality copies if at all possible?
https://www.modelmayhem.com/portfolio/pic/44361975
https://www.modelmayhem.com/portfolio/pic/44361971

These for the most part feel like shots that are "just there". You're very pretty and you'll get paid for that, but there's nothing much else going on here:
https://www.modelmayhem.com/portfolio/pic/44362205
https://www.modelmayhem.com/portfolio/pic/44362200
https://www.modelmayhem.com/portfolio/pic/44362206
https://www.modelmayhem.com/portfolio/pic/44361888

There's not denying you can project quite a raw sex appeal, and these images showcase that:
https://www.modelmayhem.com/portfolio/pic/44362136
https://www.modelmayhem.com/portfolio/pic/44362207
https://www.modelmayhem.com/portfolio/pic/44361890
https://www.modelmayhem.com/portfolio/pic/44361948

I think your main strengths are twofold: when lacking a concrete concept or direction I can see you excelling in tasteful erotica, which is for the most part on the model to make it work. On the other hand, I'd love to see more art concepts, nude or otherwise, with vivid colours, or stark chiaroscuros, pushing your posing and/or telling a story. I think you have incredible potential Tracey, and you're still relatively new after only a couple of years, I eagerly look forward to see how your modeling career evolves going forwards.

Take care, and best of luck!
Marco

Hi Marco,

Thank you for the kind words! To be honest, I’ve  kept my eye on your portfolio for a while too, so I’m surprised and happy to hear that you have been doing the same!

Thank you so much for taking the time to give such a detailed critique. I have been rearranging my portfolio recently and your comments helped a lot!

Hey Melissa, thank you for asking. I read your profile and I wanted to commend you for overcoming what must have been a very difficult ordeal. Crazy respect for forging ahead with your modelling career.

You might consider trimming your port a bit, particularly the older shots. I realize people get attached to these due to views/comments/lists but there's little point in clinging to weaker 10-year old photos. That being said, this is a standout which I really like:

https://www.modelmayhem.com/portfolio/pic/33680352

Luckily I find that your later photos are in general much stronger, and I love the darker look. Selection-wise I think it's always best to keep the best photo from any given shoot, but I must say that the bathtub and flowers concepts turned out beautiful:

https://www.modelmayhem.com/portfolio/pic/44724831
https://www.modelmayhem.com/portfolio/pic/44724825
https://www.modelmayhem.com/portfolio/pic/43763919

The dark look really suits you, and of that style this one's my favourite:

https://www.modelmayhem.com/portfolio/pic/44724852

This is also a cool shot:

https://www.modelmayhem.com/portfolio/pic/44985228

I think you really rock the nudes and implieds, I just wish the quality of photos themselves were better, many of them have focusing/composition/compression/editing issues. You are quite lovely and experienced, so I understand the paid assignments only policy, but by that same token I think you could find really strong photographers who'd be willing to TF and bring out your best, the potential is absolutely there.

Take care, good luck!

Hi Mercedees, welcome to MM, hope you enjoy your stay!

I went through your profile and portfolio and it's pretty clear you're just starting out. The photos that I currently think best show you are below.

This is an engaging selfie, approachable and cute:

I like this one too:

Serves as a full-body shot:

These are really just snapshots, though, you really need to get in touch with better photographers. Your profile is quite passive, ModelMayhem is not an agency, and you can't just wait to see what modelling will bring you. You need to be a bit more direct and clearly state what you are seeking, and do revise the genre list in your profile to make sure you're actually comfortable and invested with your selection: are you really a cosplayer? Are you comfortable shooting erotic?

Use the MM "browse" function to find photographers whose work you like in your area, and post a casting call. Check out this excellent video series regarding modeling:

You do have a great look, I think you could make some fantastic images if you find the right people and dive into it. Also, let me know if you're ever in Toronto smile

Take care, good luck!
