Hello, I am a full time model based in South Florida. I just updated my portfolio and added 5 new photos. Would like your honest onions on how they compare to the earlier photos in my portfolio. Ellie Feb 18 18 07:05 pm Link OP, they're not really adding anything except the number of photos in your portfolio. --Don't sit on your feet to where we can't see them. Looks awkward. Also, bend your body a little. Don't always sit straight up. Some example 1 and example 2. --And, lastly, dang it. The skin smoothing is so heavy handed. Looks CGI or a SIMs character. Also, that Teal and Orange color scheme is too much. I realize you probably didn't do the edit. But, it was your decision to make it part of your portfolio. --I think you have more than enough images with your hand on your head. You should start learning new poses. Stop it (or limit greatly) with the cliche poses. Of the 6 new photos, 3 of them are like that. --I'm not a fan on how they made your beautiful face flat as a table with some lazy editing. Compared to this older image of yours, the older looks much more dimensional...realistic. Love your look in that older one, btw. You should consider getting some inspirations from these guys, Joey Wright and Jonas Nordqvist. They ain't perfect, but, they have consistent good stuff. Feb 18 18 08:37 pm Link That is excellent advice above. I agree, the older photos in your portfolio look more natural, and I like them better than any of the newer ones. Feb 19 18 07:52 am Link Thank you Black Z Eddie, I agree with your comments and appreciate your feedback. I removed the image where you said was too smoothing heavy handed and replaced it with another image from this set. The image I replaced it with does not have a cliche pose, shows my body from a different angle, has better editing and different colors. In response to the following comment: "I think you have more than enough images with your hand on your head. You should start learning new poses. Stop it (or limit greatly) with the cliche poses. Of the 6 new photos, 3 of them are like that." I removed two photos and relocated one to a different part of the portfolio. I believe I have plenty of poses (although we never stop learning/evolving) but tend to be drawn to those types of photos when choosing from the set and I didn't realize how repetitive it was until you mentioned it. I removed the flat face photo and do appreciate the editing of the photo you pointed out. Both are good photographers they just have different style and strengths. You should consider getting some inspirations from these guys, Joey Wright and Jonas Nordqvist. They ain't perfect, but, they have consistent good stuff.- Thank you for this advice. I already followed Joey Wright and now I follow Jonas Nordqvist. I added a couple more photos which I think add more to my profile then just quantity. Will you please let me know your thoughts? My goal with the portfolio is to show versatility in genre and looks (hair styles, makeup, glasses, no glasses, etc) Feb 19 18 05:20 pm Link I think that in: https://www.modelmayhem.com/portfolio/pic/43779710 The pose is very nice. It's a slimming pose, and presents you in an attractive way. I also think that this photo: https://www.modelmayhem.com/portfolio/pic/43328907 shows you in an attractive light as well. Personally I like those better than some of the other recent ones. Feb 20 18 12:52 am Link Ellie, You are stunning, thank You for gracing the site with Your presence! I'm just gaga over this... In My humble opinion the newer work is not up to the standard set by some of Your previous images. I believe here on MM less is more and although easier said than done would cull the Portfolio back (to 30, 20?) for more 'WOW'. New doesn't necessarily mean it gains a slot. Quality over quantity, always. Feb 20 18 01:07 am Link Elisabetta Di Virgilio wrote: Personally, the photographer who did your older work had a more refined touch. If it's the same person, then that shooter is trying something new and hasn't quite dialed in the settings. Feb 20 18 06:22 am Link Well, firstly I must say that I'm a big fan of your look Miss E, and would enjoy the chance to work with you sometime soon . . . secondly, I hate all the new images, the ONLY reason I hate them is because I didn't get to shoot 'em . . . The retro look is wonderful, the colours, the wardrobe and your posing all work well together, some of the post may be a little heavy handed, but if the intent was to capture a 50's, 60's feel, it's not that far off, things tended to be not quite so refined back then . . . much continued success, and how soon can ya be here . . . you've always got an open invite to shoot . . . Feb 20 18 09:37 pm Link The new photos are fine, but they do not add anything that was not already apparent in your portfolio. It is obvious that you are a very beautiful woman. Perhaps try stepping out of your comfort zone and work with photographers who have a different vision? You may not like all of the resulting photos, but those that you like do will extend your range and give a more nuanced view of yourself and what you are capable of. Feb 27 18 04:10 pm Link |
