How 'remote' does one have to be to make it a 'remote shoot' ??

I have a 25 foot cable release . . . is that remote enough ?

No, that is not remote enough. To be considered remote you must be at least 4 miles away.

If by remote shooting you mean capturing stills of webcam models, there were many models offering this option after the pandemic started.  I imagine many are still set up to offer this service.  I bet if you post some casting calls in major metro areas you’ll find some.

Check out Ivory Flame here on MM, sarascarletmodel and billreidphotography on Instagram and my gallery to see what I mean. I was In NYC, she was in the UK. I told her where ND how to position the camera and herself. I set the camera controls.via software. We communicated  via Zoom. All photos sent to me via Dropbox

So there are no other models other than the one's I've mentioned? I guess they're on checking their IG and OnlyFans accounts.

So your limited inquiry resulted in a very limit number of models doing remote shooting. You might wish to expand your search. Plenty of models have started doing remote shooting. One photographer I know has done dozens of remote shoots across the world with models he knew he'd never see in person.

You might begin your search right here in the forums. Twas a hot topic 12+ months ago in the height of the pandemic.

I pulled together a list of models who said they did remote work back in February. I don't know how many are still active, but it might serve as a starting point.

If you haven't already checked, there are at least 3 FB groups dedicated to remote shooting (Tethered Together, Remote Photography Global Network, and Remote Photography Group) you might find useful.

It might be helpful in the longer run to request MM add a search flag for remote to portfolios.

I'd be willing to do something like that. I even have a cool moon/ocean backdrop on my bedroom wall (As seen in my avatar).

I prefer in-person shoots, but I do very occasional remote shoots. I rarely advertise that I do, and I haven't yet decided whether that is a mistake or not.

I've found that, with my equipment, it's best to keep the shoots around 2 hours though. If I'd known this would all happen, I'd likely have invested in a Macbook Pro rather than an Air.

I've done a few remote shoots. There are apps you can put onto a smart phone and take a photo form distance (for example, "Say Cheese" app). I found it to be a lot of fun. It's best  if the model has a good quality camera on their phone
