About Me

I am a freelance photographer. Photography is why I am alive. I have what I
call my three pillars, glassblowing, pottery, and photography. Since I was
twelve these three have kept me sane. Photography has long been my
strongest pillar. At twelve I decided to learn photography on my own,
starting with learning to cut and roll my own film. I am a follower of the
classics, and the finality of analogue. I believe in taking the final image
at the source, committing to what happens once the shutter is released. I
shy away from retouching, and personally do not consider Photoshop a part
of photography. Since it is my career I keep up with the times, currently
shooting both analogue and digital. Clients often request digital, though I
fight for analogue everytime. In my personal work I stick to film, often
using my true love, my Rollieflex Automat Model E. My fine art often is a
arguement against the existence of computer manipulation and
post-production. I like the idea of no special effects or lavish outfits
and makeup. By keeping it simple with a subject in a natural space, it
creates intimacy and surprise. All power over the scene is through
controlled lighting and guided movement, the images often appear as
distorted and altered-selves. I adore the old black and white street
candids from earlier generations, especially of NYC. I tend to see the
world how those old images appear, and when I shoot scenes from my life, I
look to present them in a similar fashion.

If you are interested in working with me you can find out about prices and scheduling by emailing me. I am willing to do free work, or trades when developing an interesting idea or when others are willing to then assist me with some of my personal work.
