About Me

Leila was born on the 28th of July. Her father had been awaiting an heir and the baby scans had shown that they were expecting a boy. So it was to everyone's surprise when a baby girl announced herself to the world with a high pitched scream.

Her father named her in honor of her grandmother, Leila, a name taken from the Arabic word meaning 'night'. This could perhaps explain why Leila prefers writing late at night....

Leila is half-Azeri and half-Belarusian. When she was three her family had to flee Azerbajian to escape private tragedy and the war that was tearing the country apart. This was the darkest chapter of Leila's life.

Since her childhood Leila always yearned to become a dancer, however her mother insisted she pursue a higher education.

“At this moment I want to interrupt my wonderful life teller and say several words about my family. My father Rizvan, preferred to be called Raffael, was a noble man who died protecting his motherland during the war conflict between Armenia and Azerbaijan. He was a head of the oil factory. He refused to leave his office even when the bombarding started…
My mother Halina is a strong woman who brought three kids up on her own in very hard times - after the collapse of the Soviet Union. She graduated from the School of Russian Literature and Language, that’s why the names of Lev Tolstoy, Fedor Dostoevsky and many others Russian writers have been sacred at home.
My sister Esmira has diverse educational background. She’s published several children's books inspired by her precious daughter Barbara. Moreover, she works in the UN,which I consider pretty noble.
My younger brother Bahram combines studying at university with work. He traded physics and math for business studies. From all I know about his life I can only say that he is a heart breaker.
Enough about my family. Please, keep telling my story…”

During primary school Leila managed to pass one year. That’s why she’d always been the youngest in the class. Leila dedicated several years to studying at the technological gymnasium where major subjects were math and physics. And even though she is far from science, Leila’s convinced that this helps her brain work faster. Leila finished her senior education at The Lyceum of the Belarusian State University as a history major. The Lyceum shaped not only her mind but also her character, and helped transform her from a shy and sometimes awkward little girl, into a vivacious, confident young lady.

At the age of fourteen Leila had her first article published in a youth newspaper, and since this time she has appeared in the editorial office on many occasions. Shortly after this she enrolled in the School of Journalism at the Belarusian State University. Along with her studies here, Leila also published the youth magazine 'S.A.H.A.R' with her older sister, and gained experience as a journalist, television presenter and model.

Though Leila plans to pursue modelling and acting, she also dreams of having her own family. She wants to have many children, as many as she can provide with love and care.

Leila spent one semester studying Journalism as an Easmus Mundus student at Aristotle University in Greece. This time enriched her personality and allowed to enjoy Ancient culture.
“My turn to tell! So once I got a call from the Belarusian TV. It could be not important, but I was shortlisted for the host of one show… one of the biggest shows in Europe with the 50 000 000 audience in a live broadcast!!! I packed my stuff and came back from Greece to Belarus. It was my lucky day, because from all the famous people of Belarus the jury chose me (fun not experienced student) to host Junior Eurovision Song Contest. My life has changed a lot. It was a turning point, no, no, it was a match point. I was really afraid to screw the show. My first live broadcast for such a huge audience. But I made it easily, I enjoyed every single moment of the show and decided that the lights of soffits are warmer than the Sun. Since this moment I knew that I want to be in front of the camera, I want to give emotions to people, I want to create characters, live different lives… I knew that the only place in the world that can give me it all is Hollywood. For a year it was a dream-city, almost unreachable… I graduated from the School of Journalism (surprisingly for myself with honors), I packed my small bag (no more than 5 kilos) and booked a ticket on a plane to LA. It felt like I took some Percocet (only felt like this), as I didn’t realize what I was doing. I was going into an unknown world with a dream in my pocket.
It was enough to start…
I study at Playhouse West School and Repertory Theatre. Acting is a world of self-revelation. I am learning to listen, to be myself and to be truthful. Sounds easy... But you better try to make it before thinking like this!
I hope this is just the first page of my life. I am glad that this one looks like this. I hope all the others would be better!”
