"A shared affinity for heavy and loud music notwithstanding, Jan was an extremely pleasant breath of fresh air among the MM crowd of photographers. Not only did he provide an interesting perspective for me due to the [rare] proximity in age, but he has a uniquely innate sense of composition, as well as a great eye for locations that most people would just walk past, unaware of the potential magic that can be captured just a few steps beyond their front doors. There was a very enjoyable sense of interacting concepts of "work" & "play" at a moment's notice, especially when a good spot for me to pose materialized, immediately switching the atmosphere from one of amicable banter to intense covert ops/incognito mode within a matter of seconds.
