Anyone ever use these ? I wonder what everyone thinks about them. I am getting some Alien Bees, but a photog I know is selling all his equipment( Divorce ) and offered me a good deal...

Let me know what you think.

I've been using them for a short bit.
I would say unless the deal was phenominal go with the Alien Bees, or get the Briteks, then save up and get Photogenics.

They take some getting used to, the Briteks have a cheapy feel to them, but I love them for travelling.

This has kinda been said, but if they're a fantastic deal take 'em.

Just imagine every bad thing people say about how cheap and plasticy Alien Bees are, then imagine something 2 or 3 steps below that in build quality and longevity.   That would be britek.

I use Britek, All the negative comments above have been my experience also. The plus side is they are very portable but, then, so are my SB-600's

Best advice is to get the Briteks on a great deal, then upgrade to better than Alien Bees when you need to, using your savings on not buying the bees.

I've got two of the Briteks. Couldn't pass them up at $25

But I'm wishing now I had waited and bought A/B. It's harder to get the funding past the wife when she says "You've got two lights already"

I have been using Britek's for some time now...no real issues at all...

Yeah..they are cheaper made...that's why you pay less...but if you take care of your gear, no big deal...

I will be upgrading to A/B's for studio use, and keep my Britek for travel shoots...

Briteks are the worst lighting system out there.

The worst.

You are better lighting with a household lamp than with a Britek.

And their "built in slaves" only work in a dark room, otherwise they are not sensitive enough to fire off each other and each needs its own popcorn in order to work.

And can we say color shift?

I "inherited" a set...a 3 light kit. I ONLY use it as travel/back up/want to do some different lighting...

Not too keen on them, but the "deal" you got was good...

Vivid bad memories, really bad quality really bad reliability, run, run away fast, britek are rubbish, i have used alien bees while i do not own them and i use swedish lighting now if i had to choose between britek or alien bees the bee''s everytime. My nearly 3k worth of britek ended up in a wheelie bin within 2 years of me buying them.
