January 12, 2010 3:53am The pose puts me instantly in mind of Munch's "The Scream", but the mood and tone of this shot stand in contrast to that image as vulnerable yet serene and adoring. The cradling gestures of the hands seem shy and self-protective, but the beautifully highlighted, upward looking eyes, and the softly parted lips create a sense of a gradual yielding to a benevolent force. Exquisitely lit, and I like the fade effect at the bottom of the screen, enhancing the sense of a sublime transfiguration and melting away of barriers.
