About Me

Rich Samuels is a Las Vegas, Nevada based professional photographer working outside the box.

Originally from a small town in South Jersey, just outside of Philadelphia, PA, Rich moved to the Las Vegas area with his family in 1988. He began his career studying photography at the Community College of Southern Nevada (now known as CSN), and quickly became a well respected sports photographer in the Las Vegas area. In 2004, he joined Cashman Professional, one of the largest photographic studios in the country, and began to study wedding photography. Two years later, Rich was named Director of Wedding Photography and is now responsible for training and directing a staff of over 50 photographers and digital imaging artists.

Rich continues to be a student of all forms of photography. From classical portraiture to photojournalism, he has never turned his back on any style of photography. "You have to know the rules, before you can break them," says Rich. "Digital cameras today have opened an entire world of manipulation that was nearly impossible to obtain back in the days of film. Unfortunately this technology has also made it fairly simple for someone to pick up a camera and disregard the fundamental basics of exposure, composition, use of light, and the process of capturing the human form."

"Photography is a never ending learning curve. I encourage the photographers I teach to learn the technical aspects of their camera and the process of properly capturing light before showing them how to create incredible imagery. I want every shot to count because shooting off the hip will only get you so far. Photojournalism is popular today, but what if it isn't tomorrow? Acquiring the knowledge of how to capture several different styles will guarantee success in your career as the market changes. I'm constantly replenishing my arsenal of skills in order to provide the client with stellar imagery, no matter what their preference in photographic style."

Residing in Las Vegas, the 'Wedding Capital of the World', has provided Rich an incredible opportunity to refine his skills while capturing some of the most beautiful weddings and locations in the world. Rich has an unequaled passion for capturing a bride's special day. "Today's bride wants something different than what is found in her parents wedding album," says Rich. "In the last few years the 'Trash the Dress' style of photography has become quite popular with brides on the West Coast. There's nothing more enjoyable than taking a beautiful bride wrapped in a gorgeous $5000 gown and telling her to go jump in the ocean! They're never going to wear it again, so why not capture some imagery that will shock and awe for generations to come instead of boxing it up forever, never to be seen again!"

"Having fun and a great sense of humor are the most important elements of any shoot. I truly love the interaction and connection that is magically created when my clients minds are at ease and they are obviously enjoying themselves in front of my lens. There is no better feeling in the world than providing someone with the most beautiful imagery they have ever seen of themselves."

Rich currently resides in Las Vegas, Nevada with his wife Stacey, and son Jimmy. He is available to travel and provide his unique photographic perspective worldwide.
