About Me
I live in Central, Louisiana which isn't really in central Louisiana. Kind of confusing, huh? It's actually just outside of Baton Rouge and was named after the high school. Born in Baton Rouge and raised in Central, I’ve been involved in art of one kind or another since I was big enough to hold a pencil. Drawing classes at Baton Rouge Fine Arts Academy and Louisiana State University have had their influence on the way I compose photographs and I’m sure the early emphasis on drawing has a lot to do with my interest in black and white photographs.
I got involved in photography at the age of 12 after Christmas of 1979, when my parents gave me my first serious camera, a Canon AV1 that I still have today. Over the years I shot friends and family, scenery, events, pets, and wildlife. The summer after graduating high school, I developed evidence photos of accidents and crime scenes in the State Police Crime Lab. Later I learned how to process black and white film by hand and got involved in medium and large format photography. Now that I’ve adopted digital technology and become involved with exhibit and critique sites on the internet, I’ve been able to associate with and learn from fine portrait, glamour, and nature photographers all over the world. I still love nature and architectural photography and plan to do more wildlife photography as my kit expands to include glass powerful enough for long-range work. As MM focuses on model and glamour photography, I've loaded my portfolio with only those types of images. Friends requests: Please don't take it personally if I turn down a friends request. That doesn't mean I think you're a bad person or that you do substandard work. I see the friends list as a way to make certain members quick and easy to contact. If I add you, it's because I hope to work with you soon and reasonably expect that I'll be able to, or we've started some conversation in the forums. If you live in an area where I never travel, never travel to my area, or if the generes we feel confident working in don't match up, I probably won't add you. It doesn't mean you're not good; just means I don't expect to be meeting you.
