About Me

Who I am
I am a painter who is sold across the United States in fine art galleries.  I am always working with attractive models and creative photographers to inspire images for my massive white and black paintings.

Goals
My current goal is to get printed in more publications.  So, if you’re in the industry or have connections, let me know.

What I do
My primary focus is intimate portraits of faces and nudes.  My acrylic paintings are exclusively black and white high contrast, as you can see on my profile and website. I am looking to meet and work with models and photographers across the world since I travel quite frequently.

I am always trying to paint bigger...currently my paintings start at 30x40inches and I've gotten up to 90 inches tall.

How I work:
I can work with both photographs and live models.  I am open to both photographers and models interested in having their images made into bigger than life paintings.

Every painting starts as a sketch, either from a live sitting or a photo.  Then I refine it, then I paint it.  Each painting takes 8-20 hours from start to finish.  I am not the guy that sketches your caricature in 5 minutes at the local fair....I paint fine art.

Notes on working with live models—
This is my preferred method of creating art.
Typically, I sketch for 1-3 hours and take a couple amateur shots for reference.  Most models are used to holding poses for 10 seconds for photographers, so some are challenged by holding poses the long times that artists need…not to worry, most of my artist friends sketch each pose for 30 minutes to 3 hours….no, I work quick: 3-5 minutes max per pose.  I like to keep moving and get creative poses.

Art vs. $
I understand models needing to pay the bills [come on, I used to be a starving artist] and I am not opposed to covering travel expenses for models but I opperate on a trade for art basis.
I encourage models to think "long term".  Either a fun experience and a couple bucks today or an art peice that will last for hundreds of years, accumulating in value.  I've worked with numerous models, many whom echo the sentiments of one that said "I've been photographed for years and have thousands of pictures of myself, but the painting you did of me is the one that I have proudly displayed in my home."
Now I either give models one sketch per session or one painting after a few...roughly equal to $500/hour!
Plus I always give models digital copies of all work that they can use in their portfolio or however they wish.  Who else pays that much?  [and no, I don't pay that in cash, only art value]
