Hi...My name is Benjamin Howell.

Self taught, I commenced my photography forays with a borrowed vivitar v4000 SLR camera. My very first pictures were almost all grossly underexposed and I started thinking maybe I should forget about taking pictures. Nevertheless, with persistence I started getting better and eventually began doing weddings and one or two small scale commercial work now and again.

I love nature, scenic, fine art, macro, children and people photography (OK all types basically) but the majority of my photos are nature/scenic.

Have been published in the "Visions of St Lucia" magazine for the past 8 years and the La Belle Helene for 4 years. Have done a few collaborative works, the last being a calendar featuring Soufriere scenes.

I am currently heavily focusing on stock imagery at this time, selling through Getty Images. I want to seriously start some creative people images of magazine cover flavour in terms of professional look, lighting, composition, creativity, relevance and subject matter.  MMayhem seems a good place to start on this wise.

My long term goals would be to be able to travel and shoot and build up an impressive stock image portfolio in size, quality and diversity. Also I intend to set up outdoor shoots with people depicting various creative concepts, taking advantage of all our natural and man-made landmarks as I use them as backdrops and additions to complement the scenes.

I am also hoping to be able to travel around the Caribbean and meet some of the models here to do some stuff. I really like people who are as comfortable and happy in front of the camera as I am behind it.

I really do love photography and the stuff involved in image creation process (looking for props, locations,thinking of concepts etc.).

Nudes are not a focus of mine at this time.
