Prospective Clients, I am available for photo assignments internationally. I have shot for magazines, calendars, even television programs.
Models, I'm always looking for marketable faces to pitch spec shoots to Photo Editors, Art Buyers and Creative Directors through an image syndication agency.
A professional photographer since 1990, I fell in love with the medium after being seduced by the likes of Cindy Crawford, Claudia Schiffer and Elle Macpherson, those goddesses appearing in the sleek imagery of Patrick Demarchelier, Marco Glaviano and Sante D’Orazio. I wanted to create my own images of magnificently beautiful women.
I’m always admiring the stylish images in fashion magazines and trying to think of my own ideas for creating something cool and memorable. Like most photographers on here, I’d love to “discover” a great new face and see her/him go on to appear in the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition or walk the runway for the Victoria’s Secret fashion show. If you are reading this, maybe you are the next great face I’ll get to collaborate with. My background is in journalism and marketing. I help models by creating feature articles with interview and photo sets to create tear sheets for their portfolios, which helps them build buzz and helps them in promoting themselves in Google search results.
Most of the models I’ve photographed are non-professionals who desire beautiful, sensual, editorial-style photography for themselves. These “real women” have normal insecurities about their bodies, are not necessarily adept at posing, and have no knowledge about what to do or how to move in front of my lens. I love shooting with professional models, but creating a transformative experience for the novice poser is the most fulfilling activity and career I can imagine. It is a joy to watch someone who is normally very reserved return to the playful, flirty, spontaneous, daring woman she was when she first met her husband.
$40-$60/hr depending on the complexity of the photo shoot and negotiated terms of usage.
Travel expenses must be covered and all booking must be a min of 2 hours.

WHAT DO MODELS SAY ABOUT ME?
* Links are attached to profiles of these models, so please feel free to verify these are actually their words about me. I've worked very hard to build a good reputation, so these testimonials are a way of checking me out before we shoot together...
"I have shot with My Sweet Oasis several times, and it's been great every time. Steven Stiefel is very professional and always brings good creative energy to the shoot. I always have trouble picking which photos to post after the shoot because I get so many great ones back!"
Jessica Nicole Lewis
"Steven Stiefel is one of the most professional individuals I've ever had the pleasure to work with! He adds personality and a touch of class to everything while always keeping the main objective first! Top-notch in the field and highly recommended by everyone I know in the industry."
Tara Lynn Overby
"I loved my photo shoot! I was nervous at first and didn't know what to expect, but Steven made me feel so comfortable! I loved that the photographer was so considerate of leaving the room or turning around when I would need to get adjusted! I also loved that I had a man's opinion & perspective on my poses. I wanted boudoir photos done and my friend Becky, who is a model, told me Steven was very professional. Now I know for myself!! Thank you so much for the beautiful memories captured in your photos!!"
"My shoots with My Sweet Oasis has been more than picture taking, besides the breath taking images that I have submitted for multiple calendars, Steven has brought alot of work to my table as well. I remember our first shoot together was for an American Honey Calendar shoot and it was at Tin Roof Birmingham... Today my picture remains in Tin Roof for exposure! I have also had the pleasure of shooting with Steven in Panama City Beach during spring break for a National Swimsuit that I have been selected for the past two years. My most recent shoot with this super awesome photographer was definitely a hit: I got a little face time with HollywoodTuna.Com and hundreds of likes on my Facebook Modeling Page. So not only is his work phenomenal, it gets you where you are trying to go! I look forward to shooting with Steven to rock just a few more brands! "
"A true artist. Steven Stiefel brings a creative eye to the work that is beyond compare. Having the pleasure of being a model and a client, I have always enjoyed collaborating with him. Not only easygoing in nature but extremely helpful in providing direction to groups or inexperienced subjects. My wedding pictures were fabulous despite the heat of South Georgia in August during a heat wave. Steven was able to capture my big moment with fluidity and grace, and I am grateful that I made the right choice!"
Marki Meisburger Mason
"I owe my modeling career to Steven Stiefel. I would not be appearing in magazines like Men's Health, UMM and Maxim or as an internationally featured Cyber Girl on Playboy.com if Steven had not seen potential in me and hired me for my first photo shoot. He encouraged me to try modeling and then to take it to the next level. Now I've appeared in more than 80 publications."
"It's a wonderful experience each and every time working with My Sweet Oasis. Steven's talent is beyond measure. He appreciates a woman's beauty and truly emphasizes that in the work! Such a great attitude and very professional. Steven's creativity is amazing and the ability to know when to take the money shot is fantastic! Not only is Steven an outstanding photographer, he has also become a wonderful friend of mine."
"I never modeled, did pageants or acted or sang in front of a crowd when I did a photo shoot with My Sweet Oasis. I have always had serious stage fright and gotten nervous under any level of attention. I was not only completely within my comfort zone, but it also ended up being one of the most beautiful photo shoots of any of my friends who model professionally. Steven is great for someone like me who had no clue what to do. I would recommend My Sweet Oasis to anyone in need of a photographer, whether they be a super model or just a friend who needs event pictures, headshots and more."
"Have to say, this was one of the funnest most professional shoots I have done in my career.. I had a blast and Steven made me feel right at home... Very comfortable and he was Extremely professional (: Thank you so much for my amazing pictures... You are the best!!"
"Steven is a very loyal and honorable person to work with. He is not only diligent, but committed to a high level of quality in everything done. I have had the pleasure of knowing Steven for many years and have enjoyed the consistent up-beat conversations. I would certainly recommend him, both professionally and personally."
Jocelyn Anne, President of True Intimates Lingerie
"One of the best shooters around for many years. I've recently had the pleasure of working with My Sweet Oasis for a shoot in 2011. Steven has always been the photographer to see for outstanding images and ideas. My Sweet Oasis photography never fails to deliver superb work and the talent for taste is matchless. I'd be very happy to work with him in the future again."
"Steven Stiefel hired me for an assignment where those same photos were seen by the editors of nationally-known SHAPE magazine. The pictures landed me not just one but two spots in the Feb & April `05 issues. Much appreciation to Steven's incredible skill & talent I was able to reach a fitness modeling goal for 2004."
"I can honestly say that (My Sweet Oasis) has been a huge promoter of my name and work. In many ways, I feel the site has pushed my online 'celebrity' status up quite a lot. Have I referred other models? ABSOLUTELY! I'm so glad Steven allowed me to edit it before it was posted. A lot of magazines would have taken that and run with it, but he was considerate enough to let me choose."
"My Sweet Oasis was great. I felt really comfortable and at ease with the whole thing."
I am available to travel to nearby cities (Atlanta, Birmingham, Huntsville, Nashville, Pensacola) with some notice and travel expenses. If you would like for me to travel to where you live for a session, I am happy to work out pre-paid arrangements with you. If you have friends that would like sessions also – boudoir, portrait, whatever – you are welcome to coordinate with them and split the cost of my airfare/mileage and hotel. It can be done affordably.
I have a number of projects that I am working on. See more at http://www.stevenstiefel.com/castings/
TESTING & TF POLICY:
Bottom Line: I do NOT pay models for portfolio/general shooting. It is simply too expensive to buy and maintain my equipment, plus shooting with you means time away from my family and wear on my car and camera gear. I also have 20+ years of experience, so I really have enough samples to show off what I am capable of doing.
That said, I occasionally do trade work with models who have loads of personality, specific concepts in mind and a fearless, fun attitude. If you have a willingness to pay for a MakeUp Artist, I may have a greater willingness to invest my time in shooting with you at a reduced or free rate, depending on my mood and how nicely you ask. Thanks for understanding. My rates for Model Portfolio Development are very reasonable.
My images can get you noticed and get you other shoots, so a photo shoot with me is an investment. I do, on occasion, hire models for paid shoots. Usually, if I get to select the models, I will try to use people I have either tested with in the past or those who have paid to shoot with me for portfolio development who I consider to be reliable and have a marketable look that is suitable for the gig. I don't recommend a model to others unless I am reasonably sure she isn't a flake.
I recently moved to Chattanooga, Tennessee and would like to find a "Muse" to shoot with regularly. Ideal would be someone who needs regular content for a website. I am not opposed to having a male model muse, although most of my ideas for shoots are optimized for female models. I just want to be shooting with fresh faces as much as possible. Much of my photography as of late has been inanimate objects (furniture, food, etc.), but shooting with people is what excites me as a photographer. If you are interested in becoming my Muse, say so. Maybe we will click on a creative level.
I believe in mutual respect and professionalism. I generally feel that whatever makes the model feel more comfortable and confident is fine. That extends to bringing someone to your photo shoot with you. I would encourage you to be extremely selective in who you bring along with you to a photo shoot, i.e., a female who will be attentive to details rather than a bored or jealous boyfriend who will bring bad vibes or touch my gear. Definitely limit it to one or two people. Leave the kids and the entourage at home. Yes, I have had a model show up with a whole gang of rowdy people before. It's quite a distraction and a sure way to get me to end a photo shoot as quickly as possible!
Working out details ahead of time (what precisely is going to be photographed and who will be on the set) makes for a smoother shooting experience and guarantees no surprises. This is a rare opportunity for you to discover what you love about who you are and find out where your comfort zone is as well as far you will happily push it. On the shoot, I encourage my model to go as far as she is comfortable with, but I am careful to respect each individual’s boundaries. I really prefer that we talk about details before the shoot rather than throwing surprises at each other. I love spontaneous creative bursts, but I hate being ambushed or awkward moments.
I want you to have a great experience with me and recommend a photo shoot experience to your friends!
MY SHOOTS ARE ‘LOVE YOUR BODY’ ZONES!
If you have some particular body part that you or your lover like, tell me ahead of time so I can focus on emphasizing it. Whatever people compliment you about. No negativity is allowed when you shoot with me. I can perform light retouching to make you look like yourself on your best day, but I generally try to avoid major reconstruction in Photoshop that makes you look like someone else.
I do not photograph anyone under the age of 18 without a parent or legal guardian on the premises! NO EXCEPTIONS! Do not ask me to photograph anyone under the age of 18 in lingerie or Maxim-style toplessness. I think you can see that I am no prude, but I strongly believe that it is not in my best interest professionally to photograph someone in a manner that is not age-appropriate.
SOME THINGS TO REMEMBER:
If you are one of the rare souls I test with, my Model Release is available for inspection BEFORE we shoot. Your signature is a must BEFORE I invest a single frame.
Music makes for a more enjoyable and fluid shoot. Please bring any CDs you might want to listen to or your iPod.
Please double check before leaving that you have everything you brought with you. I am not responsible for lost items. It is your responsibility to keep track of your things.
Thank you for your interest. Please feel free to leave a comment and include my images in a list if they inspire you or give you ideas for your own work. And if you are interested in collaborating, I look forward to that experience! Some of my best friendships have evolved from networking with other photographers, models, MUAs, and stylists.
