You may say I have found my niche element when it comes to photography.... underwater.  Having grown up on, around, and under water this is just a natural fit for me. 

Photography has always been a passion of mine, it provides the opportunity for one to challenge themselves, and there is always something new to learn.  For the most part I would consider myself a technical shooter.  I am an engineer by trade, so for me it is about understanding, planning, and executing.

Underwater photography offers a unique set of challenges to deal with, it is far from easy, and very demanding.  Which is why I love it.

While I do pool style studio shoots, my real love is for the open water variety.  The open water adds to the challenge.  My open water shoots are in about 40 feet of water, with a 1 knot current, being a top notch swimmer is an absolute must.

For those folks on the other side of the camera, I have worked with models that have done pool shoots, and acknowledge the open water style is just that much harder.

For those that haven’t tried underwater modeling before, please note it is not easy and it is best to ask other models that have tried it for tips.  A good item to know before you try an underwater shoot.  Do you float or sink?
