Thank you to all of you who participate in the Picture of the Day Contest. I am thrilled to have won POTD on September 26, 2009 with Marie Blanchard as the model and Michael Rosen as the Photoshop Wizard. This pic also Showcased on One Model Place.

My photography and my wardrobe stylizing are featured on GW Burn's Lightmaster Series video from a seminar I took with him in Sarasota, FL in August 2009. I took the following photos of Ali Sonoma there:

I am not interested in my photography catching reality, because... hey, what is reality any way? We all see the same event from different perspectives and would describe it in various ways. Can you describe the look of blue to me without comparing it to something blue? Describe the flavor of cardamom. And that caress that you'll always remember... would I describe it the same way as you? No.
Maybe my imagination and dreams are as real as "reality" and maybe yours are also... let go and... let's create a whirlwind...
The more mundane stuff: I started playing with photography as a teenager, then assisted with a professional photographer when I was 16. I started modeling at the same age, then left those industries until about six years ago. And here we are!
... I've always been interested in the beauty of photography in capturing light, color and the transformation of life. As an avid organic gardener, I started capturing elements of my garden by taking macros of flowers, pistils, details of climbing flower tendrils... studying the beautiful forms that nature takes on its process through life, decay, death and rebirth.
I love seeing the various aspects of myself revealed through photography and enjoy revealing the many facets of a people through using make-up, props, wardrobe and my photography.
Now I study the life, decay, and rebirth cycle in people and nature, especially through photographing the beauty of a woman. Rebirth is my greatest interest as we have all experienced small deaths and loss, but how we re-create ourselves is the greatest power of our personal expression.
I have been through some tragic personal experiences, as most of us have, that have caused me to look life and death deeply in the eyes and make my choice. The soul searching that unfolded from these experiences motivates me to study the dynamic forms of nature: the movement of water, effects of wind, the power of a small bud to blossom into a fragrant gardenia. And, most of all, I've learned about the strength of a human to conquer adversity with head held high and eyes sparkling with life. (see my autobiographical "Into the Light" series)
With my modeling, stylizing and photography I want to look into the depths of the eyes of my subjects and myself and discover, through the photos, what fears we have overcome, what motivates us to live, what inspires us to create and what our deepest desires are. The bottom line is: what is our transformation process? How have we overcome? And where do our passions lead us?
My other interests include quantum physics, designing jewelry, and fashion. I have had an excellent education that includes studying at The Sorbonne (University of Paris), University of Nice (France), Cambridge University (UK), University of New Hampshire and graduating with honors with a BA from Rutgers College, Rutgers University.
Some of my past experiences include being an avid rock climber and sky diver (65 jumps), aerobatic flying with experienced pilots, extreme climbing, extreme skiing, managing a hot air balloon company and, as editor-in-chief, developed an extreme sports men's magazine that I named "EDGE: the adrenaline lifestyle magazine".
I've always been a writer, poet, adventurer and marketing consultant; I owned an advertising agency in Atlanta and did marketing consulting most of my life. I was commissioned by NASA to write a poem about space exploration for one of their anniversary coffee-table books.
I love traveling and have traveled extensively, including to India, Nepal, Thailand, Laos, Turkey, Peru, Greece, Bolivia, France, England, Scotland, Ireland, Italy, Switzerland, Germany, Holland, the Bahamas, various islands, Canada and Mexico. Aside from France (where I lived and studied at The Sorbonne for a year) and England (where I studied at Cambridge University for a semester), I have lived in New Jersey, Philadelphia, New York, Connecticut, North Carolina (Asheville), Atlanta, California (Santa Cruz) and Maui. I have a BS in Communication and French from Rutgers University.
I’ve studied various spiritual disciplines, including Buddhism, advaita vedanta, yogic disciplines, Christianity and more, but I am not attached to any religion or particular discipline. I have many stories of meeting wonderful gurus in India and tribal chiefs in Thailand with the Akha Indian tribe. My life has been such an adventure!
I have been mentored by many amazing photographers, including GW Burns, Philip DeLaney, Michael Rosen, Jeffery Scott, Dan Tibbets (PhotoHighlights), and Theo Meijer.
My business mentor and partner is the world reknowned (or, should be) Charles Worthley who has that go-get em, do-it-now attitude. He's teaching me that nothing can stand in my way...
