Hey Everyone!
Thanks for checking out my portfolio! I'm a photographer and musician from the South Jersey/Philly area, and I split my time pretty evenly between both of those passions. I graduated from the
University of the Arts in Philadelphia with a
BA in Classical Composition and an
MAT in Music Education. I have always had music as an artistic expression aurally and in performance, but I always wanted to find an outlet to express myself visually in the arts as well. I found that outlet through photography.
My main love in photography is shooting people - whether it's a simple headshot or a complex model shoot with sets, props, makeup and the works. I love the creativity that comes with Glamour and Beauty Photography - capturing a woman's beauty, either in sculpture, painting or film, is a timeless pursuit, and finding new ways to capture it is a challenge that I adore.
I own the
Innovation Photography Studio in Philadelphia, PA, which is a fully equipped, professional studio located about 5 minutes from Center City. Most of the shots in my port were taken there, but I also like doing location shoots. I also rent my studio for a very reasonable rate (half and full day packages) - so, contact me if you need a space... parking is free, most lighting equipment, props, sets and backgrounds are included, and it's located in a quiet, safe neighborhood that's close to public transportation.
I have also teamed up with Photographer,
Robin O'Connor (
MM#1108606), to present a monthly Glamour/Beauty Photography Workshop at my studio. You can read more about the workshops
HERE, and if you're a model who is interested in working at the workshops, contact
Robin through her Model Mayhem site. If you're a photog interested in attending the workshops, message me through this site or you can register
HERE.
I presently am not looking for any TF* work, but my rates are very reasonable and I will work with each client to provide them with a shoot that fits into their budget. Shooting is one of my greatest joys, so I like keeping my shoots laid back and fun! I love talking with and getting to know my subjects before the session so everyone is comfortable and confident going into the shoot. I take my work very seriously, but when the mood on a set or in the studio is relaxed, upbeat and fun, everyone benefits. My motto: "If the talent is happy, EVERYONE is happy!"
So, if you like my port and if you're interested in possibly discussing a project, concept or idea, please contact me through Model Mayhem, via email at:
jcaliva@gmail.com or by phone at 856-305-0973.
Best of luck to everyone in your endeavors!!
