About the Photographer
Michael Andrus is an internationally published photographer in Portland Oregon. His style is a collaboration of the mystique of beauty and the freedom of fashion. This fusion of styles leads to a rich and vivid image, which is not only powerful and bold, but it is also elegant and beautiful.
Nearly all the work done by the studio involves people in front of the lens in some respect, even though what they are wearing or using may be the focus of the image. These images capture the essence of the subject, a beauty that most people only see in a fleeting glance. That one moment where the observer sees the true beauty of a person that makes them realize a special feeling of love, admiration, joy, awe, intrigue or any combination of these powerful emotions. These are the sensations that I feel through the lens.
I am always interested in meeting fellow photographers, Make-Up Artists, Stylists, Models etc to network, discuss our art, and make great contacts in this business. If you are a model or stylist in or around the Portland area send me a message or leave a comment. Even if I do not require your services at this time, I am sure I know someone who does.

About the studio
Located in beautiful Portland, OR, MA Photography has one of the world's most beautiful locations as a backdrop for its innovative work.
In addition to our regular services, we occasionally host specialty shoots at the studio, so anyone in the industry who happens to be close by may find a good opportunity at one of these events.

A bit on TFP
TFP is something that I am rarely available for, just due to the cost of my studio, equipment and training. From time to time I will be working on personal projects and accept TFP for those interested in working on those projects, or those who present a project idea that really captures my interest. I want to stress that I am not being snobbish but rather trying to avoid sinking money into a project that no one is putting their best effort into.
If I am paid for a shoot by a client, then all who are a part of the project are paid. I do not accept paying gigs and then "hire" a bunch of TFP staff. I think that is low and tacky. Not to mention that people almost NEVER give their best on a TFP basis. I have meet many models, MUAs and Stylists on this site that I have "donated" my services to, loved working with them and later used them on a paying shoot.
Please be aware what TFP means. It is an exchange of a modelâs time for prints. A professional photographer will be carrying upwards of $25K in gear and have invested many years into honing their art. In addition, professionals will edit your photos and make them print ready. Even the most attractive and âflawlessâ individuals have flaws at very high resolutions. It takes many hours to produce a real work of art. For me personally, for every hour of a modelâs time, I put in three hours (one on the shoot and two in editing).
I do appreciate that you have invested time and money in getting to where you are and I expect the same. If you REALLY have no money and are trying to better yourself, willing to work at your best and can really appreciate what you are getting from your photographer, MUA, stylist etc, perhaps we can work something out.
Current project interests
I am looking to update my portfolio on here with more editorial/fashion work. To that end, I have compiled a few ideas that I would love to explore. (these are in thought order and not in order of interest)
1. Swisuit shoots
2. Shoots with aircraft
3. Forms and Shadows
4. Highly contrasting skin tones or anything that really
focuses on the concept that any feature is beautiful.
5. Several shoots with the same initial theme concept. I
want to see how differently they will evolve with differrent
crews. Especially with a very well know idea like "A
diamond in the rough" or something like that.
I will add to this as I come up with new ideas.
