Joshua Curry is a passionate, experienced photographer with a sophisticated portfolio of images that illustrate his artistic eye for composition, color, lighting and mood.

Inspired by the experience of growing up on the North Carolina coast and his Wrightsville Beach hometown, Joshua knew at an early age that  he would follow an artistic path, immersing himself in the context of his subjects, whether it be creating images of President Barack Obama and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton when they were on the 2008 Presidential Election Campaign Trail; the late Frank Capra Jr., former honcho of EUE/Screen Gems Studios: or the Honorable Mayor of Wilmington Bill Saffo, Joshua has captured the spirit of many local celebrities, minted the look of up-and-coming fashion models, established iconic CD covers for emerging musicians, and illustrated the work of artists, craftsmen and chefs, nailing the essence of still life subjects from architectural interiors and travel destinations, to sport car and cookbook close-ups.

Joshua descends from a family of water sports fanatics, and is himself an avid surfer and an outdoor action photographer with accomplishments that span the East and West coasts. He studied drawing, painting, print making and ceramics before earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in professional photography from the prestigious Brooks Institute of Photography in Santa Barbara, California. While on the West Coast, he mentored with Los Angeles-based professional studios and since his return to the southeast has published hundreds of photos in the pages of Wrightsville Beach Magazine, and most recently in North Carolina Signature. He has also won awards for his journalistic photos published in Lumina News, the official weekly paper for Wrightsville Beach.

Equipped with state-of-the-art cameras, lenses and lights, Joshua can direct the shot, shoot the subject and produce results for any time frame and within any budget.

Joshua says, “My photography is more about creating images than just taking pictures.”
More than that, Joshua’s photography is about building relationships. Because of his naturally gregarious personality, he is awesome to work with, open to suggestion and will go the extra mile to deliver his clients what they want. His approach is a unique blend of interactive instant gratification.

For him, the sexiest thing about photography is the finished product, but the highest of all compliments, is the excitement he hears in the voice of the client, summed up in one word: Wow.
