I have photographed people for the better part of 10 years... I picked up my first camera my senior year at USF and it was love! I started in film, but migrated to digital about 4 years ago. My education is as a computer engineer, but my photography is my passion... it's where I feel "natural".
My style is about the use of light and contrast to convey the mood and personality of my models, so it is important that the model and I discuss our joint vision for the shoot. I am interested in all genres of photography, so any ideas for unique or experimental shoots are welcome!

********** My "Thoughts" *************
-
Creating art is my first love... any money I charge just helps me continue doing so! But the "love" will always be first!
-
I love to laugh. Photoshoots should be just as fun as they are productive. Just ask my references... we'll have a blast!
-
Model input is welcome: I'm no shutter Nazi... I want to hear your ideas, so spill 'em!
-
Punctuality is key. I will never keep you waiting, so please return the favor! ;-)
-
"Always Sunny in Philadelphia" is an awesome show... genius. Had to be said.
-
Mutual respect is a must. Great modeling is just as challenging as great photography!
-
Too many rules to read = boring. We'll stop here!
********** Now the "money talk" **********
-I do not pay models, unless I request a booking with you, or working with you would significantly enhance my port. Otherwise, my rates are fair and competitive and depend on the location and duration of the shoot as well as any "extras" (prints, albums, photo books, etc.) that the model desires.
-TF* Will only be considered in mutually beneficial circumstances unless I contact you or we have worked together before; otherwise we will work out a fair and reasonable rate based upon my rates and your own (if applicable). However, if you want to do a TF* and can't afford to pay my rates message me anyways... you never know unless you ask! Just shoot me a message with your request/ideas and we'll go from there!
-I reserve 4 TF* time slots every month for new and aspiring models, so if you cannot afford to pay for a shoot, we still may be able to work something out! I charge only to cover my business costs... but the real point is the delight of creating art!
******** Here's what to expect regarding your images! ********
-Within 24 hours of the conclusion of the shoot,
ALL of your unedited images (I understand that your favorites may differ from mine, hence you will be able to review
all shots taken via the proofing site) will be available for review online via a private, password protected mini-site on the J. Cofer Photography website. Through this site, you may select up to 10 images as your "favorites". Once you have made your selections, I will refine your selected images and deliver them to you electronically within 10 business days.

In addition to proofing your images, on your mini-site you may also email friends/agents/clients a link to your images if you so desire!
-
In order to view and download the finished and edited selections, each model will again access their own private, personalized mini-site on the main
J. Cofer Photography website. Through this mini-site the model can view and download any or all of their finished images as many times as they wish. These individual mini-sites will be available for 7 days after I notify the model that their finished selections are ready.
-
For paid shoots, the model's downloadable images on the minisite will be provided in two sizes; a high-resolution web-ready size (for posting on MM and the like) and a high-resolution print-ready color profiled version for the production of photographic prints.
-
For TF* shoots (unless agreed upon earlier), only the high resolution web-ready image versions will be provided.
*********** Policy on escorts ***********
You may bring an escort if you wish... there are always things that need to be carried! But in all seriousness:
The most important thing is your comfort and safety, so that you can concentrate fully on the creative process. My wife accompanies me to almost every shoot, so another female will likely be present.
That being said, feel free to bring an escort if you so desire. As long as they do not impede the shoot you may bring whomever you wish, however I do have some suggestions regarding escorts:
-If you have a best girlfriend, they make the best escorts since they will also want you to look your best, and usually have a great time at the shoot!
-Male friends are okay as escorts as well, but not boyfriends! If you have no other choice but to bring a boyfriend then that is fine, but usually is not conducive to a good shoot.
-It is VITAL that if you choose to bring an escort, that they are 100% unobtrusive during the shoot. Since yours and my time is valuable, it is essential that your escort not preclude either you or me from doing our respective jobs. They may remain in the room and within eyeshot, but always out of the way of and behind the camera or any other equipment; and conversation needs to be kept to a minimum until we break for outfit or set changes! This will make the shoot run as smoothly and efficiently as possible, and insure that we create beautiful work without interruption.
As far as references are concerned, feel free to message any of the models I have worked with here on MM (they are all listed in my credits below), all would be happy to discuss their experiences with me as their photographer!
