Erik Ralston Imagery

I am a self-taught photographer, serious about the art since 2006. I started out shooting objects and architecture, and taking candid shots of random people, family and pets. I stumbled into the local fashion scene and event photography early in 2008 and have since discovered that I love attempting to create art with beautiful people. The discovery of this medium has become a new artistic passion for me, since my childhood love of drawing fizzled out. I love the challenge of capturing a moment at a fashion show, trying to frame a model in a way that makes the viewer feel intimate with the subject, and of trying to tell a story through light and a studio setting. I'm not saying I'm always successful, and I have a lot to learn yet (especially judging by some of the gorgeous work I've seen on this site), but I'm constantly working at the craft to improve my knowledge and technique...well, when I'm not tied up with my day job.

While I am of course looking for paid gigs (I accept portrait, event and editorial work...or pretty much anything that will expand my experience and breadth of knowledge), I am here on Model Mayhem to network and to connect with models who are interested in collaborating on a TF* basis to expand their portfolios and mine. I am willing to try pretty much any style. I am also hoping to meet other photographers who may be willing to either work with me in an effort to learn from each other, or to just give me some feedback or constructive criticism. I try to be humble and respectful and am in no way a snob so contact me!

Besides photography I am a musician (having been playing electric bass for nearly 20 years) and I work during the day for an agency in Portsmouth developing web sites for the Investment Management industry.
