Hi, I'm based out of Los Angeles, originally from England.
I do a lot of things, I'm a photographer/cinematographer and graphic photo retouching artist. I've been taking pictures since I was 7 years old. I recently turned to Director/cameraman for commercials and have also directed some narratives, with my main goal of directing a feature from a screenplay I've written.
I love to shoot, portraits, fashion/beauty/glamor and natural photos.
A note about the B/W portraits;
These Photos are inspired by one of the best 1930-40s Movie Star Portrait Photographers, George Hurrell.
When I shot mine, the models sat uncomfortably under and very close to various movie tungsten lights.
Although, Hurrell used an 8X10 plate camera, the largest I wonted to use was my own 4X5 plate camera. I tried to recreate the mood, not only with lighting, film stock, hair-makeup, but I also found original jewelry, and clothing from that era!
Finally, I tried to use the same techniques’ Hurrell used with his retouching and painting. I’m not crazy, I didn’t mess around with the picture or negative, instead, I spent many hours in Photoshop painstakingly painting in pours, highlights, hair and eyes. (no cloning)
I hope you enjoy these images as much as I enjoyed taking them:)
