My interest in photography began when I took a black & white film photography course. It is a cliche but when I witnessed that first print bloom in the developer, I was hooked.
Although I sometimes use one of those computer cameras, I gravitate back to film. I tend to use medium format cameras and black and white film. I also adore being in the darkroom; developing the film, printing the images. I like the visual and tactile nature of the work. I feel lucky to still have access to a darkroom.
My photographic mentor is Dan McCormack, one of the few photography professors in the nation (U.S.) who works primarily with the nude. He has taught me to view the world in a slightly different way.
I don't photograph to make a living although photography has added a lot to my life.
