About me

I have had a love for art and photography for as long as I can remember. I love making objects and images that are creative and interesting. I hate “taking pictures” though. When I have a camera in my hand it is for the purpose of making images not taking snapshots. Translating what I see in my mind into something to share with the rest of the world is something I do not just love doing but something that I have to do. I have to make art. It is my drug and my religion. I need to do it like most people need to eat or sleep.

I started my serious pursuit of photography in High School where I learned to develop and print as a photographer for my school yearbook and newspaper. Having film and dark room experience proved invaluable when I made the switch to digital photography several years ago. After High School I studied fine art for a few years. I also love to paint and sculpt which I feel has given me a higher understanding of art and design and craftsmanship. It also gave me a greater appreciation for the thousands of years of image making that came before photography was invented. I still work in the more traditional mediums from time to time. I worked for seven years in a family portrait studio photographing weddings, high school seniors, families, and events but I found that I was not able to explore the creative aspects of photography as much as I would like. I am currently finishing up my degree in commercial photography at the University of Central Missouri where I attend as a non traditional student.

I am interested in art and fashion photography and other creative commercial photography subjects but I do not believe is being too specialized or defined. I have a unique style which is usually described as highly creative. I enjoy telling stories with my images and giving the viewer something interesting to look at that will spark their imagination.

I enjoy working with both experienced and inexperienced models and I am open to trading time for images but my time is limited so I normally contact the models I am interested in doing trades with. I can provide rates if you wish to hire me for portfolio building or a commercial project.
